Do your kids have anger management issues or what, why else would they be "hitting' the TV ?

Only a year or two old that time, not angry but they got excited. They no longer did that
My son as a toddler would so the same thing to the TV, he liked to touch the TV as if it's a giant tablet so I always had hand marks on it from whatever he had for lunch/dinner/snack, etc.,

Nothing but OLED for years, here - had a 55" B6 I think it was, sold that after a couple years with zero issues, replaced it with a 65" B9 that has since been moved across the country three times and is still going strong. Picked up a used 48" Sony A90K about 9 months ago to use as a monitor, it's roughly two years old, no issues. Had a few mid range Samsungs before that, again, no problems. Yes, I know boards fail, but I guess I've just been lucky.

Touching is one thing, and is completely normal for little ones, with their natural curiosity in play, but hitting is quite another story, that's why I asked about the possible anger mgmt issue :D

When my kids touched the TV/monitor, or most other things, I explained to them that it was ok to do so, however, they never suffered from being overly aggressive in any way, so either I just got lucky, or must have done something right in parenting them...

My (Samsung) TV is probably over a decade old at this point, its fine, however its also only had very light usage as I consume most media on my PC.

That's 2 posts now about this and if they were directed at someone else could very well have gotten you a different reaction, as it is the guys replies have been very well said and in a calm manner, though lay off the kids having issues or their parenting you know 0 about anyone else's issues and your making wild assumptions :shadedshu:

A relatives kid was watching some cartoons. At ... maybe 4 years old? Around that age. In the cartoon the "villain" was a bear. So they went to the kitchen, grabbed a big knife and begun to try to stab the evil bear. The parents are good, the kid is great but requires attention.

  • 42" 4K HDR Sceptre dumb TV in my office, 2 years old, I barely touch it. The picture quality is decent, speakers suck!
  • 65" TCL 4K HDR QLED is 4 years old, works like new, used at least four hours a day almost every day some days it will be on for 20 hours. The built-in Roku works alright. I'm concerned about its future with Roku's plans to do nefarious things like in the video @AsRock posted from Louis Rossman.
  • 40" LG 1080p LCD I think it has a CCFL backlight but it might be LED. Just a good ole dumb TV, it is at least 15 years old now. It's now in my bedroom. We replaced it with the TCL just because it was old, and I wanted a bigger screen for the living room.
  • 32" Vizio 1080p dumb TV, CCFL backlight, it's had a hard life, and it still works. My son currently daily drives it. I bought it from my brother eight years ago for a $75 after he had it for at least five years. I'm simply amazed it still works!
So no, TVs should still last you at least three to five years. Once upon a time I only bought Samsung screens, CRTs and TVs. I haven't owned anything Samsung since my first Samsung LCD died after 3 years and one month. Literally a month after the warranty expired. I've been brand jumping since.

Hello

I have a samsung bu8000 (1 year and 7 months old) and the TV already seems like its at its last legs

The motherboard was already replaced during the warranty period due to audio problems now i´m having pink screens through hdmi

It is random and doesn´t follow a pattern

Samsung is charging service for me since it is already out of warranty (1 year )

I´m wondering , are all tvs like this nowadays ? is LG better ?

I don´t really mind refresh rates above 60hz or QLED , OLED displays ( unless they are more durable )

4k , 60 hz is enough for me

Is there a model that somehow lasts more ? thanks
Yikes! That really is terrible!

That one is CCFL-backlit, TMK, especially before 2010! Even some early-2010s LCDs, possibly still had CCFLs. LEDs, most likely for >2012.

But, you may end up being wrong by mistake, and that it turns out to be a plasma! :peace: That's right in the golden plasma era!

I have a plasma from 2009, which came with the house. I though it was LCD at first, LOL.

Have a 48' Sony that will be 9 years old this December.
Believe me when I say it's been used yet it's still going strong.
No issues or anything and ATM it's being used for a gaming system since that's the only use I have for it at this time.

The 48' was the TV we used but now that's changed.

Reason:
The new place here came with an 85' Sony that's about 2 years old and yes, it's one with Roku built in which I'm not that happy about.
Bought this place a few months ago and the owner didn't really want to bother with taking it off the wall so they let it go with the house.

Concerning Roku:
Instead of giving in to Roku's desire to spy & snoop 24/7 I have it on a power strip and use that to switch it on and off with, the audio system (Also Sony) that was with the TV is the same way in how I have power going to it.
Personally I don't watch much TV, it's the wife that does.

Just a buy a good monitor with speakers or use a soundbar with it. If you're fine with "limiting" yourself to generally 43" then there's no better options than high end monitors IMO o_O

this made me remember i currently own a LG OLED tv 65" i dont remember the model but i got it in 2021.
within 9 months the tv stopped working and so we called up LG after service and they sent a technician out replaced the motherboard at my house.
I was thinking man the tv is fragile but at the same time the after service in Korea is amazing... Now so far the tv works well and no more problem.

Best advice I can give: Buy the TV from Walmart if it is available and always get the $60 5 year Allstate warranty. If the tv has a problem, call the warranty and they will just send you the check for an equivalent replacement. I've used it twice in 6 years.

We bought a toshiba (i know) 55" tv, it lasted just over the 12mth warranty and one of the boards failed. The actual panel was fine, ended up lobbing it out for tatters to take. Bought a LG UR91 after TPU recommends this time, so hoping it lasts longer

It's not Plasma the blacks suck, more like dark gray. The colors are alright but don't hold up versus the HDR TVs even the cheapo Sceptre has better color quality.
