Eizo Targets Gamers with New 24-inch HD2452W Screen

Eizo, a Japanese company very famous with its first class LCD monitors, will release next month the FlexScan HD2452W, an LCD screen oriented to computer gamers. This 24.1-inch widescreen display boasts resolution of 1920x1200 pixels, 450cd/m2 brightness, contrast ratio of 1000:1, 16ms response time (no TN panel for sure), and 178 degrees horizontal and vertical viewing angles. On the backside of the monitor you'll find two HDMI ports, DVI-D with HDCP, D-Sub 15 pin, USB-Hub, D4-Video, Component Video (Y/Pb/Pr), Composite-Video and S-Video inputs. The package even includes a remote. The FlexScan HD2451W will hit Japan first sometime next month for ¥129,800 or 800€.

No serious gamer would go beyond the 2ms responce time. Most are still trying to handle the crappy 2ms responce time after coming from 1ms responce time crt's monitors.

Besides, it kinds defeats the purpose of having a keyboard, mouse and other accessories all with a <1ms responce time.

It must be for people that play Solitare and online backgammon.

TN is no good at this panel size though. Even on 22'' it's difficult to avoid angle discoloration if you're close to the screen.

Also, knowing EIZO, its 16ms may be just better than some 5ms advertised panels that suffer from overburning or something.

Good testing is needed, specs can't tell too much about the quality.

I would be outstandingly surprised if you had any ghosting with a 2ms response time :-O!!! Or even a true 12ms response time. Even on the 16ms monitor i have upstairs its still doesn't really suffer any ghosting. Then again i suppose i don't have eagle eyes that can differentiate images at 1/500th of a second.

quality is one thing bu my monitor is 2ms 3000-1 contrast ratio and their is no way i woupld replace this with anything that had those specs....

Eizo at 16ms response? I'm sure they don't mean grey to grey but 16ms black to white.
My monitor is 2ms grey to grey. Black to white it'd be much higher, as are all monitors who quote a g2g response time.

Before I bought my LG I looked at the Eizo, they're one of the top of the tops... If only I had the $$$.......

yea, 8ms is more or less the maximum response rate you want. Any higher, you will suffer ghosting.

My brother had an 8ms benQ years ago, that someone proved to have 16ms grey to red - anything with lots of red (doom 3, was a good one) blurred horribly.

that is very true. however we won't know unless someone does a benchmark on it. i'm almost positive the acer i mentioned in my post is slower than 2ms when it counts. which is why it does pay to go with the name brand stuff. they are usually more reputable.

That depends. All companies use their own way of benchmarking how well their screens are.

16ms to EIZO is probably 5ms to Samsung.

This monitor has a lot of nice features, like loads of inputs, a remote and it's a non-TN panel (hopefully IPS), which means color precision and huge (real) viewing angles. The response time might sound too big at first, but that's not everything!

I'm a perfectly happy gamer on my 20" Dell (S-IPS panel) which is rated at 16ms (black to white) or 8ms g2g. I play a lot of TF2, and before that I played lots of CS. No lag, no afterglow!
The manufacturers are still trying to convince people that the response time is the most important characteristic.

I recently bought a Acer P243W LCD and it performs just as well as my previous monitor, a 19" Samsung 940BF (also 2ms g2g). I am an FPS fan, so I'm very picky about how much lag/ghosting I'm prepared to put up with, and the Acer has given me no problems. Yes, there are better 24" LCDs out there, but are any of them as inexpensive as the Acer?

Back on topic: that 16ms figure is the black-to-black time, the HD245W's gray-to-gray is a more respectable 6ms (sauce).

Seems like the HD2441W that marsey linked will be the version sold to Western markets, as the specs are identical (except for the remote control ).
