OFFICIAL Elder Scrolls V : Skyrim (Discussion)

how would having your own castle be easier? either side you pick the future holds all out war with The Thalmor, which is mean youll need a base of operations soldiers taxes as a source of income to pay for said soldiers, it dosent get easier per say it gets harder as you tackle larger problems, and again its not like this is a mod where you get these things over night,

example in morrowind it took in game MONTHS before your complex is completed, make this mod rely on completing main quest objectives, say you stop the dragons first? awesome people love you for it, you get a land grant some people settle wish to settle there, you start becoming a thane in some courts, your now recognized by legitimate rulers, as someone who can get something done, you stop the war your achievements are recognized by all and your made a Jarl in your own right, your compound starts to get built up faster etc etc,

add in a tavern for quests, custom guards hell copy the blades scripts to recruit people, from their recruit your own guards from your followers, and using gold and quests, update there gear to ever better standards, etc etc, essentially im thinking along the lines of Never Winter nights 2

but essentially let a small land grant become something that your character can let snowball as you become famous for your deeds people flock to you.

but yea great idea, but unlikely to be accomplished

Bethesda announced today that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for PC now has cloud saving available via Steam.

Skyrim PC players can sync and access their PC saves anywhere using Steam's Cloud Saving service.

While Cloud Saving is nothing new for Steam, it is the first time Skyrim has it available since its launch back in November 2011.

Awww... your SSD died a bit too early.
Looking at the bright side though, you got rid of your headless character.

About bandicam, I had read that fps limiters solved the stuttering problem. But I tried a couple of them from Skyrim Nexus and they tore my screen pretty badly. It almost wasn't like screen tearing, more like swimming underwater  So I had given up on fps limiters.

Bandicam was the only one which fixed the problem real good :rockout:

I don't remember having the same problem in Oblivion. But perhaps that was because I had much weaker graphic card..

I didn't mean that from the castle standpoint. heh
I meant from a standpoint of, two months after you save them from all kinds of mayhem the ungrateful bastages completely forget what you actually did and start complaining because you aren't fixing all the rest of the problems in their lives ... like the savage mudcrab uprising. :D
I like the mod idea. The castle is the easiest part ... it's the rest that would be time consuming. lol

@BP : I don't seem to have any stuttering problems. Is it a crossfire issue with AMD drivers? Sorry, I've had my head buried in the CK issues of late. :p

Things I have learned in Skyrim: Vol. 1

Here are some things I have learned playing Skyrim: Vol. 1

1. Snow Bears suck.
2. Giants do not respect property rights.
3. I am not faster then a Woolly Mammoth.
4. Children will ask to pay "tag" during major plot dialog.
5. People saved from giant man eating spiders are extremely ungrateful.
6. Elves are still gay looking no matter how much armor they wear.
7. Riding a random horse in the middle of a forest is theft.

I lol'd at #3 (from experience).

It might be a CF issue, not sure.
It's like a hand with very fine tremors is holding my mouse, while the fps would be 60-62 (even though my refresh rate is 60).

I had the same problem with stuttering, Went back to 12.1 preview instead of the official 12.1 or whatever and it fixed it. It also fixed random purple armor and purple dragons, and a problem with collision turning on and off intermittently; i.e., dropping me through the ground randomly. Now all thats better. I didn't realize the havoc bad drivers can wreak.

In my case the stuttering was there from the start, using the 11.x drivers, testing each beta and official one up till the latest 12.2 preview which I'm using now.

@ TMM - I lol'd, so true!

IDK what it is but its been keeping me from playing as well, exact same issue game gets real choppy when its getting 60fps mostly noticeable indoors.

Ive tried disabling core parking, mouse accel, different settings, different drivers and it still does this on my SINGLE 6870
so its not just a CF issue.

Here are the SFW ones.

Download Bandicam. It solved the whole problem for me, thanks to BazookaJoe:

If anyone is interested I have found a REMARKABLE miracle cure for Micro Stutter in Skyrim.

I have been suffering BADLY with frame glitching & hitching & just generally difficult to explain, grainy movement and frame rates.

It was not So bad out doors, where i mostly average the Vsync limit of 60FPS, but whenever I went INSIDE a cave or anything it got so bad it would actually make me feel physically sick after a couple of minutes.

My eyes aren't exactly 100% and the persistent random jitter causes so much strain it was actually physically painful.

I tried all sorts of remedies , and not Vsync'ing but then all the motion tears like crazy and looks terrible for a different reason.

I even tried limiting my gfx to lesser frame rates like 40fps, to see if it could ease the load on the card and although it did help a little it now didn't gel with the monitors refresh rate and caused a different kind of unpleasantness.

Then I got to thinking, why so much worse INSIDE a cave or castle or whatever... surely there's LESS work to do in there and the GFX should be handling even better?

So I got to doing some improvised analysis and I realized that that's EXACTLY what the problem is.

The GFX are running TOO fast and if you monitor the ABSOLUTE frame rate and not a per second average - it was actually pushing through almost 64 frames per second even though the 60 fps limit "seemed" to be running.

The jitter and stutter was NOT my card struggling to keep up - it was uncontrolled OVER performance. The card is running so fast extra frames are breaking through the limiter.

So I did something that seemed stupid - I used BandiCam to limit my frame rate to 60 FPS even though that's exactly what the Vsync should be doing anyway, and that's exactly what frame rate was showing in the first place.

BAM! instantly my GFX ran liquid smooth, and have continued to run perfectly ever since - now the only stagger I get is if I enter a high detail scene scene that drops my rate down a bit but that's perfectly acceptable and hardly ever happens!

SO there it is ppl - If you have Micro stutter that you just cant address - try using BandiCam to limit your FPS to 60 - it works fantastically well for me.

(IF you know of anyone who has had this trouble - do them a favor and suggest this? I know somebody was talking about this a hundred pages, or so, ago - but I cant find the post - this thread has gotten huge)

EDIT : In further testing my GFX card also runs quieter, and Colder with BandiCam limiting to 60. It's insane - even tho the average frame rate has apparently remained the same, now that i have the external frame limit it is not only running better but also no longer sounds like a hair-dryer lives in my computer.

@ Rayrogers
- nice pics. Though even I couldn't really concentrate on portly Portia's face... ;)

Hey guys. Skyboost r5a is out! I currently have SKSE installed together with some mods via Nexus Mod Manager. I play skyrim by using the "Launch SKSE" function of NMM. Will skyboost be compatible with SKSE launched?

Update: I do not know yet if skyboost and skse can be run at the same time with both of them properly.
I installed skyboost and lauched SKSE and I did not see any improvement. I then launched the game vanilla with skyboost installed and it dropped my FPS by about 5-7. Dunno what went wrong.

skyboost? is it still needed even when the patch addressed the issue already? (regarding CPu optimization).

speaking of patch, beta patch is out yes? anyone tried it?

Here are some things I have learned playing Skyrim: Vol. 1

1. Snow Bears suck. Wait till you get a pack of the big snow wolves attacking your follower
2. Giants do not respect property rights.
3. I am not faster then a Woolly Mammoth. You will learn to be faster, for now find a rock outcropping they cannot climb and use your bow or magic.
4. Children will ask to pay "tag" during major plot dialog.
5. People saved from giant man eating spiders are extremely ungrateful.
6. Elves are still gay looking no matter how much armor they wear.
7. Riding a random horse in the middle of a forest is theft.

I have avoided horses, elves, and more annoying is the "here to lick the boots" kid that cannot be killed, I have tried.

Someone needs to add a undetectable bitch slap to the game and make it so you can bitch slap that kid.

There is a mod that lets you kill children. It is a must, since Bethesda makes a lot of children with their insolence level set at 11.

Just use stealth, then you won't get caught.

I've been getting some hangs when transitioning between worldspaces.
The load screen runs (showing the picture of something and the tips) and then just sits there continuously showing tips and Skyrim stops responding and I have to kill it via task mgr.

Anyone seen this?

not me, tho i noticed that it loads slower now. Last time could barely read all the sentence during loading, now i can read 2 tips before proceeding to the next cell (might have sumthin to do with high res textures)

I noticed that too (taking longer since updates), although some worldspaces load really quick. It must depend if they are already in memory.

It doesn't happen all the time and it's not any particular transitions. I usually save right before transitions so it's not a big deal as after reloading the save lets me transition normally.

In the spirit of TMM, here are things I learned in Skyrim (lol) ...

1) Watch your health bar when you are going all Ginsu on something.
2) Lydia is semi-retarted, but loves me unconditionally and holds my stuff and makes me sammiches so I keep her.
3) Rushing an archer is not always a good idea. A crit to the face send you flying (and reloading).
4) Dragons are seriously underpowered woosies.
5) If you cast the freeze shout, wait a minute after the target freezes solid to watch it fall over to add to the fun.
6) The Wabbajack doesn't seem to do diddly to summoned Daedra. (died horribly)
7) There is no need to carry 4 million potions.
8) Walk (don't run) through new dungeons so you get to see everything the devs intended. There is a lot of very cool and imaginative content.

there is a new alpha skyboost for the 1.4 patch.

@Black Panther - I found a face save for Olivia Wilde and figured on using CHSBHC for the images. The other is the level 39 character I have but different variations of her with the different races, still using CHSBHC body. Dunmer was/is main race played as and now I have a few different saves currently in Proudspire Manor to use.
Though I did have far more NSFW images taken even though this site is considered SFW.

4) Dragons are seriously underpowered woosies.

Try Deadly Dragons Hardcore  you might be able to kill them easily "if" they let you stop healing long enough to attack, then its enchantment time

@Kriej: Thats practically a game guide.

@Themailman: I kill kids after I play tag. then their purpose is fulfilled, lol. I really can't stand the whiterun Jarls kids though, I cant kill him yet because I'm in the middle of the quest that involves him...
