DS1 is the best DS ever. DS2 was not bad, I like it too. but DS3 was like a mess, not a horror game anymore, but more like an action game like MGS.

The thing I didn't like about DS3 was the hacking. It wasn't bad until you had to go diagonal with a mouse between points. I can understand hacking for bonuses and loot but when you had to hack a door to proceed with the level it got tedious.

deus ex games have this problem too. like it's fine if the mini-game to "hack" is fun, but most of the time in games its just not fun at all. lol

Now that's something I'd actually look into. Brand new IP instead of another reboot/remake/whatever.

its a reboot not a remaster, although a remastered collection of the three games would be nice as they are still great games
To me, reboot or remaster makes no difference. It is just milking an old title, with upgraded graphics. I feel this is a troubling observation because it is becoming very common to see companies recycling games. Don't get me wrong, it is nice to have the game with better graphics, but to me this is a lazy way of producing a "new" game since they don't have to spend resources preparing a storyline and also gameplay.

A good game is not about good graphics, the story telling and gameplay probably have a heavier weightage when it comes to a game success. The exception to needing good storyline/ telling are competitive games. So I feel a lot of companies don't want to reinvent the wheel so they just take an old successful title and give it a new finish and peddle it as a "new" game at a new game price.

Please Don't included micro transactions or multiplayer just make a good single player third person horror game .

Please EA listen to me , this is the key to success.

Its funny, the Dead Space series is one of my favorite horror series. It was sad EA got crazy with DS 3 and added so much micro transactions and redid all the weapon mechanics (And nerfed most of the fun ones) making the game hard to manage, less horror driven, and just not fun to play through as much as the others. I loved DS 1, the game had the perfect creepy factor. DS 2 was more action driven for sure, but was a great sequel and had alot of fun new elements and weapons (Javelin was my favorite weapon hands down).

Glad this is a remake not remaster! I want to see what they can do with a total reboot since we will never see DS 4.

According to the Creative Director Roman Campos-Oriola:

The Dead Space Remake will not have any microtransactions at all.

In addition, the remake will feature content that was cut from the original game.

No ETA yet on the release. I just hope EA will allow them to spend enough time on it to get it in good shape before release.

They completely ran the Dragon Age franchise into the ground and dropped barrels of sheep dung on the grave, I have no doubt the blue hairs that EA hires these days can do "wonders" for Dead Space too.

Big doubts on this 'remake', because they're just improving the graphics that were already pretty neat (you can play the original and it still looks mighty fine today tbh), and if they think they can 'improve' or 'rebuild' the experience and being better than the original, they're simply deluded. What are they gonna do, make a hallway bend left instead of right? Change the puzzles? o_O

What is this studio anyway. Lol. I think what we're getting is DS1 with new graphics options plus a few extra audio logs for the 'cut content'. Maybe a half level or two here and there expanding on some of its mysteries, but not adding anything with substance. I mean even the gaps in the story and explanation of DS1 are there for a reason. They create a void of not knowing stuff and it creates even more mystery around Isaac and the markers. That game is just complete. You're not 'remaking' a Rembrandt either, anything you change will diminish its value instantly.

The plot sounds like a rip off of the Alien series of movies.
Just change the engineers name to Ripley.
DS1 is honestly much scarier than any Alien ever managed, game or film. By miles. But yeah :D Same framework... masterful execution

Those necromorphs in DS1 scared the living daylights out of me when I got the game free on Origin a few years ago and I haven't played it since, so I doubt I'll be playing any kind of remaster.
Alien Isolation on the other hand was a class act and is up there with this game as the scariest.

DS1 was without a doubt the best of the series. 3 being the worst. The only thing good about 3 was the ability to play through it with a friend. The worst part of 3 was that it had the ability to let you play through it with a friend. My buddy liked the game and I hated it. It was terrible but I had to finish it because it was coop and he wanted to play it.

DS1 would be cool with a co op mode but I will defenately not buy a remaster of this. The first one was awesome but I played it. I still own several copies of it. I don't care to play it again.

Regardless of what you think, it is great they are reviving the IP back, if this remake was successful, they might finish the story this time, maybe even remake the third one into the true vision it was originally going to be!

And hey, if you really love the original then remaking it with better graphics and the enhanced game play of 2, with the neat additional weapon modification system of 3 in addition to adding the cut content, then its a good remake all around dont you think ?

And lets not kid ourselfs, i 'v been playing dead space 2 recently and after that i just coudnt get back to dead space 1, the second game made so much improvements to the game play that its jarring to go back and play the first, i'v dropped it half way trough and just finished dead space 2 like 3 times cause i didnt enjoy the first one as much

I really would not consider the weapon upgrade system a bonus in the first Dead Space, tbh. It also kind of broke the suspense of the later installments, well 3 was in fact just some sort of Mass Effect with different aliens by then. 'Being more OP' was never the point or the moral of the story and your relative strength is inversely proportional to fear.

In DS1 you'd end up being forced to use very specific weapons for sequences because the game was tailored to it. You had choice, but every choice had its caveats. Ammo management was huge in the game, in 2, 3 not so much.

Sure, great revival if you've never played it? But even then I'd recommend a DS1 with 100% identical systems.

Dead Space 1 was actually the most forgiving, even at hard difficulty you get so much ammo, i kept selling it and by the third chapter i had a fully upgraded plasma cutter 2 shotting enemies until brutes and enhanced slashers appeared, your weapons are your only means of difference in the first game, stasis are ok and kenisis is almost useless, its not until the second game where it give you little resources and you had to you kenisis to launch objects at enemies and impale them to conserve ammo, at hard difficulty you even get half ammo from ammo drops, all this is something they could fix in the remake and balance things out.

Dead Space 2 is one of my favorite games of all time, if they remade 1 with the improvements of its sequels i would replay that shit so many times, bonus the nicer graphics and additional cut narrative, it being exclusive to next gen only is also very exiting, innovations to the max !
