Yeah but the models available are usually undesirable.IMO The EVGA models are actually quite good. On par with the Asus Strix version.

Well I only bought the card due to the 3 day delivery guarantee. Once again my card hasn't been shipped. If it isnt shipped by this afternoon I'll be cancelling the order AGAIN!!! Really losing my faith in SCAN. They are out of stock now....

Looks like my card is still coming but instead of days it may be weeks. Will update!!! Come on scan get my card sorted... I only ever felt let down by this company and it was over the 3090strix

MY EVGA RX3090 Ultra Gaming arrives today and I literally cant sleep I'm so excited. I missed out on Turing as I decided to go for the massive
GV100 Volta GPU.
The 5120 shaders with the added HBM2 memory bandwidth with a 3072bit bus, made games play like butter in comparison with the Titan XP.
When the Turing GPU's were released 4 months later I couldnt condone the side grade as when you up the card to 300w from its stock 250w it performs on par and in some cases gives better results than the 2080ti due to the extra shaders. RTX in battlefield 5 performed admirably but as soon as Nvidia decided they wanted everyone to upgrade to Turing, the Drivers gave less and less RTX optimisation to the Volta architecture until the RTX performance now in cyberpunk 2077 takes the card to 30fps in 1080p without RTX the card get 115fps in the city on high and ultra settings in 1080p, 60fps in 1440p all high. I could get 87fps with RTX on in BF5 even though it was done in software mode. Without these optimisations the card is now just a beast without RTX on. I can still play any game fluidly. Then there are all the added machine learning apps etc to play around with over at Nvidia.
The reason i upgraded was due to the fact these new cards also have that functionality.
I'm really looking forward to playing with the RTX features after really only reading about them for the last 3yrs.
I'm really looking forward to this one, lets hope my seasonic focus 1000w is enough for the EVGA card as it consumes more power than the Strix and is the top performing 3090.

Driver just picked up the card from their local depot. The card will be here in exactly 1hr....
Will update when card has arrived and has been installed.

Wow the card arrived, I immediately set about installing the 3090. Took some pics and video of the unboxing and then pushed on.

Packed the V away in its original packaging, placed the 3090 into the 1st pcie slot and switched on my pc.

I sat watching for error codes and then windows booted up. I input my pin and opened up task manager. As soon as the drivers started to finish loading the pc switched off. The RGB control for the G.Skill memory is a power virus that i usually allow to set the mode and then i always stop the process. I didnt get chance.

So i restart the pc and now everytime it gets into windows its a black screen. I'm puzzled so i started googling and immediatly found a thread talking about my situation. A lot of people offering silly ideas and then i hit one comment, I wish i remembered the thread so i could give the guy his dues.

It was the cable. My Titan V would produce up to 120fps on my 65inch TV. This made me foolishly think the expensive HDMI cable was HDMI2.1.
Unfortunately the cable was HDMI2.0b. Now i pride myself on being a pretty clever PC GUY, but I was certain I had bought a 2.1 cable. So a massive oversite on my part.
I quickly ordered a new HDMI2.1 cable and resigned myself to just managing to get windows working.
Safe mode with networking, uninstalled the drivers for the card. Reinstalled and after going through this process multiple times, I eventually got it working.
I was so tired at this point emotionally and physically i litterally sat on my sofa and slept for 4hrs... woke up in time for food and then went straight back to sleep. Just got up to wait for the delivery guy with the HDMI 2.1 cable. I hadn't tried any games iether.

I remember having a similar problem with a display port cable and I solved it by buying a newer, higher quality one. Do EVGA make this clear or am I misunderstanding?

No your simply limited to HDMI2.0 so 60Hz/4k. You would of thought that support for HDMI2.0b would of been written into the 3090's driver. No such luck.

I have it working using the windows display driver atm. Hoping the delivery guy comes soon tbh.

Yeah, my 2080ti didn't play well with HDMI. I switched to a DP cable and all was fine. Isn't DP better?

LOL that just reminding me of when I got my TUF 3090, originially I was planning to build a new PC with 5950X + 3090 but 5950X never come in stock so I had to put the 3090 into my current PC, finished putting it together at 4am, went to sleep and woke up at 7am to play with new toy

After a month of waiting there is still no stock of 5950X, my 3090 has been sitting temporarily like this

Can't close the side panel because the Lian Li 011D is missing 0.5cm clearance .

Well I'm sat here waiting for my new cable and I couldnt resist looking up other people's experience with this particular card.

They are mostly bad. I watched a few reviews before buying all over again just to be sure. But I didnt see all the bad user review.
The new 8K HDMI ultra high speed cable has worked and i now have 4k@120fps once again. Next is to test the silicon.

Right guys i've basically run Cyberpunk using the same High detail settings as i used with Volta.
I'm pretty shocked at how bad the RTX performance is.

I'll link the new video with the last episode recorded on my Titan V.
I'm thinking of going back to the Titan V. DLSS sets 720p. I dont need an option in game to lower my res to compensate for it being crap.
So no DLSS used just real numbers. I thought this card was going to be so much more powerful. Any other owners got the same opinion???
When i upgraded from a Titan Xp to Volta the difference was massive. I cant see hardly any performance improvement without RTX.
My initial thoughts are of disappointment.
I really hope this is a driver issue.

I'd like to do a side by side comparison, yet have no experience of doing this myself. Whats the best method/ Utility ????

I had no DLSS Deep Learning Super Sampling on my Volta GPU. Looking at this technology now, i'm sat shaking my head.

If I wanted to play at 720p 4xAA thats what id set. So DLSS is a form of Antialiasing which is supposed to cover up the massive drop in resolution.
No wonder everything you hear and read is totally contrived.
I want my monster GPU to eat through 4k @4k without DLSS not 720p. I'm considering going back to Volta.

I ran 3dmark to see what kind of score I'd get. The system seems to stretch its legs in this application. 18538 without overclocking is not a bad score imo...

The time came and i turned on DLSS @ 1440p and set a solid 60fps. Without setting the frame limit i would experiance repeated crashes. Possibly something to do with streaming.

I really did notice litttle differances in the whole feel of the game at certain points. RTX does have its worth, the reflections add realism. DLSS actually looked good and i have to be honest theyve done a good job with this workaround for extra performance. I'm enjoying the card now, and thats what matters.

And 3 days later the card is dead, Looks like it burnt itself during sleep mode. I noticed my pc wasnt on this morning and when I tried to restart I got error 69 with 5 fast beeps.

I'm lucky in that I hadnt sold my Titan V.... Think im gonna get my money back and give this a miss. After all this trouble getting hold of one, its dead after a few days. WTF??????

Anyone else got any ideas???? I'm willing to try reinstalling the card, i will rma it tommorow.

Just tried to reinstall the card and unfortunately, my motherboard picks it up as faulty. It wont even go as far as the bios. I'm feeling a fair amount of disappointment right now.

scan have given me the option of choosing another card as replacement as they do not have these cards in stock. I'm waiting for the courier to pick up the card and then i will have to wait while the card can be tested and deemed faulty. When that happens i will be able to choose a replacement or another model but it will mean waiting a few weeks at least. Which i think we all pretty much expected would happen.

The next card I get, I will keep on top of. I wont let the pc use sleep mode etc... Hopefully that will give Nvidia time to fix this 1500c memory blip which is destroying the card caused by their drivers. I would take a guess and say the memory controller gets fried on the GPU.

Scruffy ass neighbours sent the DPD driver away.... I cant get my head around why he didnt come and knock on my door. Like it says in the extra instructions. Not to have to point out the obvious. I managed to get in touch with head office and they are trying to sort something out for me. Anyways I hope that your new GPU will be in perfect working order, must have sucked to have the previous one burned out so quick. What I noticed when I first installed my 3090 was that it stayed in 3D clocks (1750mhz core 9750mhz mem, power consumption around 100W at idle) for the first few days then it would clocks down properly after that. This high idle power consumption coupled with the idle fan stop must have cooked the memory or VRM.

I wanted to dish out a beating to these idiots when i went out, but they have multiple cameras covering my front door, i have a food shop opposite. I'm at war with these idiots until i move out. I certainly wont be giving in to these fools. As for the card @nguyen Exactly, I have to wait for a Monday pickup, then for the card to be tested. After that I should get a call offering me a return when and if a card comes into stock or another brand. I'm tempted to just ask for the ASUS Strix 3090 with the better transistors, only MLCC. It cant hurt??? BTW has everyone noticed the price hike. WTH!

I seemingly have been lucky here with my RMA. I have an Asus Tuf 3090 on its way. I just gave the go ahead so I imagine I should have a GPU around Thursday/Friday time.

Its funny how its all worked out as back at the initial release. I had a Tuf3090 ordered which i changed to a Strix. I spat my dummy out due to losing my place and cancelled the order.

Im honestly not bothered which one i recieve now. I'll be very happy with the Tuf model.

I'm looking forward to comparing the ASUS card against the EVGA model.

OK so first some cool picks. Before I let you know how its going.

So the card arrived, I carefully installed it and turned on the pc. Installed the drivers and ran 3dMark. Underclocked the card 200Mhz and started playing Cod zombies.
No issue gaming. Went for a quick old person nap and on returning when i woke the pc the screen was pink.
This happened with the last card so i'm a little worries. Has anyone else experienced a pink screen on returning from sleep? I'm reading of it happening to a few people online.
So i switched my PC off last night instead of allowing it to fall into sleep and when I booted just now i was hit with a pink screen. It looked like electronics on my screen. I'll have to try get a pic with my phone.
So with that start i'm now worried this card is also going to go POP!
At least I know I need to keep a close eye on the cards behavior. For now its fine...

Back on the 3rd day and no such wierdness. No pink screen yet.

The card is performing well and the PC hasnt cooked itself so i'm happy, will update if anything out of the ordinary happens.
