Sounds like Obama's brilliant clunker car scam.

The one that helped save the auto industry and got lots of old and polluting gas-guzzlers off the street, at the height of one of the worst economic recessions in US history? The same one, that several of my Obama hating and ultraconservative neighbors took advantage of and benefitted from, while complaining about it and Obama?

you mean destroying perfectly usable cars (cars turned in could not be used for parts or reused. They had to be completely destroyed so plenty of poorer people who cant buy a brand new car now lost out on a chance to get usable used cars on the cheap). It netted a massive destruction of wealth and usable resources while stealing more money from future generations.

yes totally saved the world!!!!

This is what is known as the broken window fallacy

I have loads of GF4 440 and Titanium cards in my collection - sadly none of them made by EVGA. They only really started selling in my area in 2005-2006. I think the first EVGA card I've seen was a Geforce 7950GT...

Yeah, well, the GeForce 4 series is also what undid 3dfx.
Back then Nvidia claimed 24bits colour support (which was technically implemented), even if the cards didn't actually have the power to push that at acceptable fps. Because 3dfx were more honest and only advertised 16bits, everyone flocked to Nvidia. Nvidia would later do the same with their FX5200, which claimed DX9 support, also without the power to actually do it.

No. It was the Geforce 2 series and poor company management that put the nail in the coffin for 3dfx. The geforce 4 came out quite a bit later. 3dfx was working on codename "rampage" witch was supposed to compete with the Geforce 256 DDR (first geforce card) and was supposedly a bit over geforce 2 GTS performance levels, but it never launched. It was close to releasing when nvidia launched their Geforce 2 PRO/GTS/Ultra cards. After seeing that the unreleased card they had been working on for years was just topped, 3dfx folded. The voodoo 4/5 were just stopgap measures - buying time so that the engineers could finish rampage.

Still, I belie that if 3dfx did better financially, they would have held on a bit longer and released rampage - but they would have still lost later on when nvidia launched the geforce 4 titanium series.

i can feel a museum / mausoleum coming.

Nah EVGA needs to reverse-engineer their best cooling solutions because their recent ones just don't do all that well.

I wonder how many degrees C the asymmetrical layout gives the card :p

Yeah, just like when GM stole 6.9 billion from taxpayers in collusion with the govt and didn't pay it back (unless you count making payments with MORE taxpayer money held in escrow).
GOOD JOB! Oh, and they got away with killing at least 128 people.

What more should anyone expect from a Chicago puppet?

The used car market has never recovered.

The coolers used to blow into the case not out like they do now, if they could only flip them now we would all be happy. I have an EVGA 6800 Ultra for parts

... isn't that a Ti4800? The 4600 had a visible heatpipe built into the heatsink.

That is a Ti 4600-8x
The one with the heatpipe is the ACS model
