In the wake of ASUS' ROG MATRIX GeForce GTX 580 and MSI N580GTX Lightning, EVGA is ready with its own enthusiast-grade GeForce GTX 580 designed for extreme overclocking. The EVGA GTX 580 Classified combines a strong electrical circuitry with powerful air-cooling and a feature-set designed for overclockers. To begin with, the card uses a tall PCB that draws power from one 6-pin and two 8-pin PCI-E power connectors.

The card uses a strong VRM circuitry that consists of solid-state chokes (which can't whine), direct-FETs (low RDS), and proadlizers (better power conditioning). The power connectors are fused to prevent surges from damaging anything, there are consolidated voltage measurement points, LEDs are used to indicate power status of each power domain (NVVDD, FBVDD, and PEXVDD). The card also features two BIOS ROMs that are selectable by a switch. One stores an overclocked profile, and the other stores a failsafe reference speed profile.

The card is cooled by a large air-cooler that covers the entire area of the PCB. It looks to have the same principle as the NVIDIA reference cooler, of a dense heatsink over most of the hot parts of the PCB, probably uses vapor-chamber technology. The heatsink features air channels which are ventilated by the blower. This card looks to have a larger blower than the one on the NVIDIA reference cooler. More details are awaited.

Many Thanks to seronx for the tip.

Seems like a solid card :)

Re: EVGA GeForce GTX 580 Classified

This is CRAZY!!! I'm happy with my EVGA GTX 580 Superclocked 4-way SLI. That's good enough for me.....LOL

Great! They used the extra space between the card and the side panel. I hope we can see more of this layout for future high end cards, rather than making them looooong

Many Thanks to seronx for the tip.

You're welcome :) I saw it on other websites and was like

this card will be useless without gpu-binning.my vanilla evga can do a stable 975mhz (i push it that way only in very demanding games). if the gpu aren't preselected you could end up buying this premium awesome-looking card and only get ~950mhz. for this card they should guarantee 1020mhz to be worth it

*sigh*

The LAST thing we needed was another GTX 580.

Why couldn't they make a supped-up GTX 590?!

because dualgpu pcb's are a waste of money!;)

wow...i guess it's really going to be a while before anyone releases any NEW tech...so many variations of stock. anyone happen to have a roadmap?

Speak for yourself, little buddy. I for one am glad they made it possible to quad-SLI these GTX580 monsters together. The GTX590 has its own set of problems, so the GTX580 is the only logical choice, as EVGA wisely realized early on.

Here's the KPC thread -> http://kingpincooling.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1325

Not really what this card is for. Think 1500mhz+ on LN2 ;)

Card uses improved vapor chamber and blows all hot air outside of your case ;)

Keep updating, benches to be done soon :p

Yes like the looks of the cooling on this card.

But then eVGA rarely fubar any of their releases from what I've seen.

OMG sweet baby jesus, the power it would take for 4 of these well on the up side I'm sure they will overclock well <_<"

GTX 580 was released a little more than 6 months ago. It's a bit too soon for the next generation yet. History also tells us that once a card is released, many versions of the card will be sold afterwards. I've read that the next generation of Nvidia cards will come out in Q1 2012 at the earliest.

It's very funny when they interduce card for overclocking with extra cost and when you burn it with overclock the company say no warranty when you use overclocking.

It is my understanding that the extra 6-pin power connection is for the memory so it's not on the same circuit as the GPU. I guess to achieve better overclock results. I onno.

Well i guess my thread got closed :P

It's an evga card so it's still covered by warranty even with overvolting upto 1.15v, it's still covered by warranty if u was to remove the cooler and fit a waterblock if there was one that fitted as long as u didn't physically damage the card in that process and re-fit the air cooler prior to RMA.
