Pricing is 1 reason.
If I was able to spend $220 plus on a 1000 Watt PSU then price nor cost would not matter. But what do I know being a simple 'forklift-driver' on the third-shift at Walmart?

Good point. There is a reason that Dell made an 1100w PSU available for the T5500 and T7500 dual CPU setup...
Simply an aside: My (2008) Dell XPS 730x came with a 1000 Watt PSU. A monster at the time. But since then I am on my 4th Dell propiatary PSU replacement. Good news that ebay is still open for business and the 730x has now been relegated to a reserve status.
