Uwe Boll, known for producing and directing video game movies like Alone in the Dark and House of the Dead, will start filming on the movie Far Cry next month. Contrary to what you would have guessed and what was planned earlier, to start shooting on Hawaii, Boll instead chose Vancouver, Canada as it's primary setting. It's unknown so far if Far Cry the movie will take place in a tropical environment like the game or if Boll chose a completely different plot.

That's awesome!

Before anyone gets too excited, don't expect it to follow the game.

hope it doesn't end up like the doom movie

I loved the movie DOOM. I think I have watched it half a dozen times.

same here i loved the doom movie:D i also like other movies to come from games like resident evil and silent hill :rockout: but thats just me lol:p

he's filming far cry in CANADA!? last i check canada is nowhere near a tropical setting, but then again i nevered set foot in the country.

Hawaii's already taken by LOST. :D

Although...you'd could use the same actors. Matt Fox already plays a guy named Jack. Why not? Kate is hot.

Hmm..this should be interesting. Bloodrayne was a nice movie so were the Silent Hill, Alone in the Dark and Doom movies. I couldnt stand House of the Dead though, that was just stupid. Lord knows Uwe loves to butcher, but its hard to make a movie based on a game (I dont care what anyone says, Street Fighter the Movie, Super Mario Brothers and Double Dragon were awesome as hell movies and some of my favorites. I dare you to laugh <G>)

You cant really follow the plot and allow for free roam in a movie. And the plot of a game is basically a couple hours long, but its possible to do, just not very plausible with Mr Bolle

Doom was a decent film all be it with a screwy story, House of the Dead was a complete pile of shite from start to finish, Uwe Boll is a poor director to say the least but after saying that i am looking forward to seeing Postal the movie.

Yea but LOST is going to end soon.
So that shouldnt cause a problem.

Also, DOOM was an OK movie.
I actually liked the first Resident Evil movie, the second one wasnt that great, but what can you expect when it is following a bad RE game (Nemesis).

Naw, I mean, Grey's is about to have a spinoff. Why not LOST? Maybe with John Locke, stuck on the Island by choice. :D

Haha.
Nothing beat Super Mario Brothers and Street Fighter was ok.
Never saw Double Dragon.

But I agree with you.
House of the Dead was horrible.
Esp. when they were flashing different parts for like 10 minutes.
I cant believe I wasted time on that crap.

they film in vancouver because its much cheaper than filming in any of the US states. a lot of studios do this to save money. plus vancouver offers incentives to film movies there and will go out of their way to make sure you have security and what not.

Ireland does the same thing, along with other countries. Huge tax/financial benefits are offered to film companies to film on their land.

Can they make Vancouver look tropical? We shall see.

oh my god, what crack are you guys smoking?
Uwe Boll is a terrible director, all the movies he's done are just...terrible :banghead:
just my opinion....

Hey, just be glad its not a crysis movie - or we'd have 3 hours of DX10 trailers, all more or less the same with 10 extra seconds of footage each time.

Apparently LOST isn't finishing till 2010. They have something like 48 more episodes to do.
