Couple if things, first I don't see where any PC is ever "finished" Its why we build PCs and not consoles. And as far a the CX Corsair. I wouldn't run a high end card off one but I've never had one fail, not one. I've had other make low end PSUs fail but not Corsair. I think its what they do best. Oh and a photo tip. If your using a crappy camera go outside in the light. Makes them turn out much better

You'd be surprised what you find inside a Corsair PSU, I once found a burnt potato chip. :twitch:

Yea about the photos, i left my D5100 at work to take proper pictures, so my phone had to do.

About the led, i wanted it led blue lighred since case, gpu, mobo are all blue and black combo.

PSU was recomended by a friend that works in store, and his opinion was that you wont need anything more, and if you got something bigger and better you would be waisting money.

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
Solid rig... enjoy! Would love to have seen more pictures of the rig not the top of the case and the budget psu. Lol! It is better than that hunk of shat hantol you were running around calling good! Cheers for stepping up... a bit!

i just have to ask.
have you ever owned a CX?
Yes. They work fine (like my or anyone's anecdotes matter - look at reviews and failure rates). But make no mistake about it, they are budget psus. Serviceable. Nothing more. They had a problem out of the gate with abnormally high failure rates but has since been fine. Still sub par caps, low rated on temps (30c?)... etc. Just because it's a corsair, doesn't mean it's a quality psu.

For a budget rig, i would not get a 200$ PSU like the CM Vangard or Silent Pro, or Corsair AX, or Antec High Current.
This little CX unit will do the job for this rig.
When i build a brand new high end tower, ill go for a tier one psu.
Now it is just a waste of money.

I will post more pics as soon as i get my nikon home, and ill post them here on this thread so all can see the details of the build.

Benchmark Scores well I've fried a 775' P4 12 years ago, that counts?
Stop microwaving them.
wanted to have CX burrito!
wow, i have also owned/installed them (4) and never had one ever show ANY sign of wear or "low quality" craftsmanship. Im sorry you had yours melt on You.
it seems like there might have been something external causing it, were they in the same home? meaning maybe there was some sort of faulty electronic wiring , etc... I only ask that because even the WORST PSU's having a failure rate of that magnitude would be highly unlikely, nevermind a brand like corsair regardless of the CX.
have also installed 5 units, due economic reasons on sold build for customers, 3 of then had problems, replaced with antec or EVGA units,

PSU was recomended by a friend that works in store, and his opinion was that you wont need anything more, and if you got something bigger and better you would be waisting money.
thats was for the wattage, but dont worry the unit is fine, but dont expecti it to be the bes unit in the world.... just check frequently

its better if you get a UPS, no need to replace that psu now, also ass many others said, welcome to the PC world, i wish several adventures on mods, gaming,OC and all the incredible things, tweaks and everithing related to PC world,

Regards,

CX series are fine. True, they use second grade capacitors on the first stage and third grade on the second stage but for a PC that will draw ~400w the CX650 is plenty and won't come close to its maximum load. Had it been a 500w I would worry a little (maybe?)

Your core spec is very similar to my i7-950, 7970, 8GB RAM system. I'm sure it will feel like a worthwhile rig for a while, but unfortunately many games now require 16GB RAM and at least a 390 or 970 to avoid performance issues, due to bad coding, porting and/or resource hog graphics.

Anyways, for now, enjoy it as long as you can. Even if you only get a year out of it, it will be worth it for the price you paid. I'm hoping mine can hold out until Zen and the new Intel CPU launch, as well as the 1080 Ti. I'll probably do a complete core overhaul spring of next year (MB,CPU,GPU,RAM).

I could upgrade the ram to 16GB since i got room on my mobo to do it.
But for now i feel like for 1080p i do not need more than 8GB, since most new games i play on high, with aa and other stuff off or low.
I feel very happy with the psu i got, and my moding with the led lights.
I guess in a year or even 2 ill go for a new build, again mix of old and new hardware.

Its not a question of needing 8GB for smooth 1080p gaming, The amount of desktop ram actually makes very little difference. So long as you have enough ram to run the game itself and buffer all the extra textures when your graphic card runs out of its own dedicated memory. your rebadged 7970 should absolutely slay 1080p on the highest settings. your i5 might be a little weak though.

With the exception of games like AC Unity, AC Syndicate, Shadow of Mordor, Arkham Knight, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Just Cause 3, and the new Hitman. It's getting pretty common now that the 7970/280X is just at the high end of mediocre anymore.

High end starts with the R9 390 and GTX 970 now, and they're quite a bit more powerful.

So much true @FreedomEclipse & @Frag Maniac GG!

I had R9280X-DC2T-3GD5 and was impress of quality made(12 digi phase, good heat-pipe and fans)

I run it almost everything on max settings except some like GTA V, Shadow of Mordor,Unity & Syndicate.

Still nowdays this gpu is good,i dont like 285/380 weaker
