Well, its like building a hotter fire. Wood vs. thermite. You can make a lot more heat with a smaller amount of materials, but eventually you reach a point where you just have to keep adding more material if you want to generate even more heat/energy. While they predicted correctly that electronics would be getting smaller, they failed to take into account that we can only go so small & that at some point, certain devices will have to be made bigger & draw more power.Many many many years ago (decades now I guess), I was told that electronics of the future would be getting smaller, efficient and more powerful.
When it came to cellphones they were correct, but GPU's?
I would be impressed with 3090 performance in a smaller package (much) and with half the power draw.
That ain't happening anytime soon.
I'm more interested in what AMD has coming up at this point. With how RTX shaping up as the Nvidia Physx at this point.
