Ok for one, I think this is a good idea for people that like to do MOUT style combat. One thing DICE needs to incorporate is server side limitations to RPG's (rocket or grenade) so that each team is not bombarded with explosions EVERYWHERE like on metro. Each team should allow a certain amount of RPG's and if that limit has been met, you cannot have one on your kit.

If it turns out to be a metro style DLC then I must say DICE has failed.

I enjoy RPG's and spolsions! Knives and RPG's.........KNIVES WITH RPG's ATTACHED.........RPG KNIVES!

But I aswell expect lots of USAS/M320/RPG/SMAW noobing tbh..
I suppose its DICE's strategy (like most game developpers) to appeal to the masses by offering a bit of everything, instead making a deliberate choice (large maps and vehicle combat) which they were known for.

Pretty much...and there is no reason to be upset about it outside of the fact that no one is forcing you to buy/play it because the other DLC(s) sound great and much more "Battlefield-esque".

And, Aphex, I can understand your sentiment to a degree but I call foul on you referring to vehicles as "cheap". This is Battlefield. Moreover, there are plenty of counter-balances to the powerful vehicles if you know how to play properly (though could stand to be tweaked here and there). And you never noticed the "Infantry-only" browser filter checkbox?

The closer quarters is actually very appealing to me.

Its nice to finally own with out those cheap :)p) tanks and copters to help people out.

1 Recon (laser desig) + 2 Engineer (Jav's) = living hell for air or ground, if you add the 4 spot to that Squad as Support with Ammo, you can shut down a vehicle map, only people who stand a real chance are extremely good Jet Pilot's since Jets can outrun the missiles.

Knives = cool

Thats the problem with close quarters in this game, it's rocket hallways when suppression was put into the game for hallways, in the end it's just better to fire rockets down the hallways than to actually use support to suppress those hallways.

I swear I never have had much success when I have tried to spam rockets on Metro. I almost suspect that they lessened the damage on that map or when they are shot indoors or something. Or maybe I've just been unlucky with where they actually hit though I often saw the damage indicator. Though also not something I've spent very long trying to do as it's lame and boring.

Yea... seems everyone's forgot about that fact that there are actually server admins out there that don't allow RPG's/USAS/UAV on their servers. If you don't like close quarter explosives raping, then pick a decent bloody server that doesn't allow it so we don't have to listen to you moaning about it  (Like me. I don't touch Metro unless there's the "no USAS/RPG" rule)

Oh... and maps like this are good for people running on low resources. People with low amounts of RAM will benefit massively from maps like this...

Not everyone plays a peak times, when I play I usually have 3 - 4 servers with people in the US playing. I normally end up playing on any euro server with 150 or less ping for me, so not all of us have the luxury of picking perfect servers. And even if we did, those servers are few and far between and maybe run map rotations we don't like or a mode we don't like. It's not so cut and dry.

Also RAM is dirt cheap now days, 4GB DDR3 1600 for less than $40.

Over here, for every one "all-weapon" metro server there's always at least 2 that don't allow said weapons. Also, I only play hardcore which might make the difference.

I should have mentioned; it's not just the RAM but also people with 32-bit OS. A lot of people are only playing on the "family pc" and the community have been crying out for a solution to performance issues. Small, close quarter maps are a tried and tested way of alleviating these problems for a lot of users.

Well if you equipped a Javelin now and then you'd see that sometimes you do got people "helping" you with targeting. Got super lucky on Sunday and like every server I joined had SOFLAMs up or guys in the tank CITV seat on my team and got over 25 Jav kills that day. But not enough people work together on pubs, surely. There is also the Stinger, but harder to get kills with that as they all use flares. Though the few times you get the disable and then a multi-roadkill when their chopper hits the ground makes it all so worth it.

Thats another limitation, I don't play 24/7 servers, hate that crap. So limiting 1 weapon or gun based on it being OP on one map doesn't happened on the servers I play on, as it probably won't be as good on another map.

These people must have pretty good "family PC's". Since DX9 isn't supported, and something like a 5770 or 4870 is really going to be bottom of the barrel when it comes to performance. Most "family pc's" bought from Best Buy or some crap all use built in video even worse than that. Anyone I know running BF3 on PC isn't using a store bought comp, because you need to spend big money to get one with a decent videocard. But either way, small maps don't mean this is going to be any easier on RAM. They are adding greater destruction effects, and when you stick a handful of people in a small room, add in debris, muzzle flash, smoke, and maybe a stray cat, it could be crippling.

Though I don't see how small maps are tried and true tested for being easier on RAM. BF series doesn't really have small maps, even the smallest maps in BC2 or BF3 so far are a lot bigger than COD maps. So I can only assume you are meaning small maps are tried and true on COD, which is a much less demanding game, thats like Apples to Oranges.

Dunno when you are playing. Servers are packed 24/7 for me.

You're reading too deep into it mate. Yes, small maps are easier on people's low-grade systems - it's a fact lol and people don't have all those effects turned up if they're on a low-grade system. I'm not the sort of person that's going to come in here chatting random shit now am I? ;) I'm just trying to dismiss all the negative nay-sayers that see DLC and instinctively start thinking of reasons why it's bad.

I'm not reading too deep into anything, I'm just talking semantics here. A low range PC for BF3 is a 5770, and honestly, thats better than most "family PC's", thats just fact. And small maps being easier isn't fact, you can't tone down BF3 like you can old shooters to make smoke go away or grass not there, they did a good job of that so people playing maxed out aren't hiding in grass that isn't there to others, or smoke. And you can't turn down destruction either. Lots of action in a single room can be just as hard, if not worse than large maps, thats proven as well, so saying that small maps = less stressful isn't true (maybe in a game that doesn't have so many effects), all we can do is wait and see. But I don't know you at all, so I don't know what kind of person you are, lol.

Either way, this is a tech forum your argument is that it's good for non-techie's. That isn't us, thats like going to a Mothers forum and telling them why abortion is good.

what does this have to do with battlefield? its was sad enough how small the 64 player maps were, now we gonna cramp 64 players inside a building? might as well buy COD

NO. Battlefield still has a lot more over CoD. Having huge maps and having small maps is good. screw having HUGE maps the entire time. Variety in map size is never a bad thing. Battlefield will still have the better graphics, more realistic gameplay and gun characteristics, and encouraged team work. the more realistic gameplay and gun characteristics and the team work is what winned me over when i played BC2 for the first time when I left CoD4.
