hello,

as i would like to flash bios of my asrock rx 6900 xt formula oc chip samsung xtxh to the asrock rx 6950 xt formula oc chip samsung xtxh

so I proceeded to several steps the first under the amdvbflash.exe program under winodws its say SubsystemIDs mimatch so I did the second solution under the cmd

I name the direction of the file, then asked to run the file amdvbflashwin.exe -unlockrom 0 to unlock the bios, then amdvbflashwin.exe -f -p 0 and the name of the bios.rom and the always the same error

OK I tested with my third solution with a .bat file

@Echo off
cls

echo Flashing card 0 with bios.rom name...
echo.
amdvbflash -p 0 -f name of bios.rom
echo.

pause

and always the same error

I'm completely dry it's not my first time on a bios flash I've always found a solution but the impossible and I'd like to put the bios of the 6950 xt on it then afterwards a big MPT once the bios has been applied

I ask for your help please, moreover it could help another person who has the same concern to do with the same graphics card

thank you in advance

Hello mate.
Since you wrote in en + fr i presume you're from Canada.

Why in the world would you risk to brick your card by crossflashing the BIOS?
I mean what will be the gain you expect from the new BIOS ?
There is always a software solution at hand to force your card to the limit.
But if you still feel the need to do that here you have a short how to guide :

bonjours ,

-----------------------------------

good evening ,

thank you for your answer I am not Canadian but French in the south west of France

moreover I would like the bios flash because the frequency of the vram and 2250 at the lowest already by one and consumes much less than the 6900 xt which consumes more with a frequency on the vram of 2000 and the core clock both run identically and also have the bandwidth of my ramm higher because they are the same just boosted

moreover I tried to bios mods of my 6900 xt impossible to be stable at 2250 mhz

So, if I understood correctly, you're attempting to convert an RX 6900 XT into a RX 6950 XT by BIOS crossflashing? This will not work, as the 6950 XT uses a different stepping of the Navi 21 processor with a different designation and there were low-level hardware changes between these revisions, even if you do force-flash, there is a very high risk that you will merely brick your card instead.

For quick reference:

6800 = Navi 21 XL
6800 XT = Navi 21 XT
6900 XT (original) = Navi 21 XTX
6900 XT (refresh) = Navi 21 XTXH (AMD's official Liquid Cooled and some OC-oriented AIB designs use this) <- your AsRock OC Formula GPU uses this variant
6950 XT = Navi 21 KXTX

6800 = Navi 21XL
6800 XT = Navi 21 XT
6900 XT (d'origine) = Navi 21 XTX
6900 XT (rafraîchissement) = Navi 21 XTXH (le refroidissement liquide officiel d'AMD et certaines conceptions AIB orientées OC l'utilisent) <- votre GPU AsRock OC Formula utilise cette variante
6950 XT = Navi 21 KXTX
Ok as much for me, so that and damn in advance the bios that both cards have the same hardware. Arrangement of components apart from the dye that he and a kxtx and not xtxh

So the only possibility to push its RAM to 2250 MHz H24 as the OC formula that have identical vram is to give it more MV in the VRAM? ------------------------------

Not sure if this is smart decision even if it's works.....anyway when I was playing with my Navi card(RX 5700) I remember that I always also use command -unlockrom 0 before I attemted flashing.....

in short I always did things in this order:

amdvbflash -i
amdvbflash -unlockrom 0
amdvbflash -f -p 0 name.rom

Also always need to start Cmd as Admin....GL

------------------------------

If you want the upgraded 18 Gbps VRAM, this is not new or exclusive to the 6950 XT, the reference 6900 XT Liquid Cooled already had it, and its BIOS may work on your card. Much higher rate of success with that than a 6950 XT BIOS.

You may find it in the unverified uploads section, but trust me, this isn't worth it. You have an OC Formula, it's already one of the very best models for the 6900 XT. You don't need to worry about it.

Subsystem ID mismatch is because you're attempting to flash a BIOS that is not intended for the specific GPU model you have. You may override this with a command line argument, refer to amdvbflash documentation for it - I have had an NVIDIA GPU for the past two years and I'm a little rusty with my Radeon skills lately - the last card I had was the Radeon VII which is completely different from these current RDNA 2 GPUs.

the 6900xt is already one of top performing gpu, dont risk bricking it by other people's attempt by flashing the bios...
most of the time it doesn't work and here at tpu we see daily people have troubles flashing gpu bios..
is there a game you can't play properly? or are you just chasing fps numbers?

Thank you for your answer, it's just to have a fluidity on some games

So yes I reinstalled the driver and Windows nothing made the only choice I found as a solution and push the Core Clock to 2900 MHz and the VRAM to 2150 MHz the power to 410 watt and more worries

For this I would like to be able to push my VRAM to 2250 or even 2400 MHz and my core does not need it they easily take up to 2920 MHz on Tyme Spy and graphics card and under watercooling

Or at worst they would need someone who could help me reach the frequencies of my vram with more power tools.

Ok thank you

so already here are the modifications that I made, good it's not much because the bios and unlock are already original at the frequency level

on oc limit no change
on power the watt of origin the bios and at 325 watt I made them go to 410 watt because at 325 impossible to reach 2900mhz
on frequency the original fclk it and at 1940 mhz I made them mounted at 2050 mhz

here is what i touched

if one chooses all the deactivation of the standby mode of the graphics card because it causes lag on certain games

Honestly, any game that does not run well on your 6900 XT OC Formula is not going to run better on any 6900 XT LC or 6950 XT model or any other similar card with any BIOS available - period, you'd need a faster GPU such as the 3090 Ti and the 4090 and frankly from where you're standing, it's not worth it unless you make the jump straight to the RTX 4090. Like, disable the ray tracing or whatever - that should more than make up for any frames you'd be missing to hit a consistent smooth frame rate target.

I have the original RTX 3090 and personally, I'm waiting for the inevitable RTX 4090 Ti and AMD's equivalent to upgrade.

As for the SPPT values - I'm not really able to help you on that one. Only someone who owns a high-end Navi 21 card and does such advanced tweaking can.

In my opinion - you should just enjoy your (amazing) graphics card for what it is. Cheers

there is literally nothing seperating a 6900XTXH from a 6950XT.
except of differently binned memory you can clock a XTXH to whatever it is stable at.
bricking your card for nothing is... weird.

Acclamations
so for the 3090 ti for the moment all the 3090 ti of my knowledge are well below my 6900 xt in pure performance whether on video games or on bench mark tyme spy, fire strik

then I would simply like to push my ram to bench to literally burst the 4080 to prove again that nvidia pisses on consumers

then I would simply like to push my ram to bench to literally burst the 4080 to prove again that nvidia pisses on consumers

Nope. The 6900 XT has strong raster performance for older games and benchmarks, but the 3090 pulls ahead as the resolution and scene complexity increases. You could call it a tie in most games, they're never significantly ahead of each other in most games but once you get raytracing and other advanced DirectX 12 features involved, it's like a murder scene against the AMD card.

The 3090 Ti is way faster than both though, especially in raytraced games. If you're talking 3DMark then, the new Speed Way test runs about the same on a RTX 3070(!) as it does on a stock 6900 XT due to its weak RT performance.

If you feel like your GPU is not performing well in a modern AAA game, disable raytracing and path traced global illumination settings and you'll see your fps quadruple easily - the RDNA 2 architecture is really bad at this. That isn't to say your card is bad - just like Turing used to be, it's AMD's first generation raytracing architecture, the RDNA 3 cards launching next week should bring major improvements to the table.

Cheers

Non.

Acclamations
so yes it makes sense if you enable ray tracing or dlss or both together nvidia are ahead i agree i'm talking about pure perf with nothing with any dlss ray tracing, or fidelity x and sam clearly amd are ahead i did the test on grand 3090 ti

So for the speed test it makes sense that there is ray tracing, it's like saying on the port portal that the amd is picking up, it's logical ray tracing.

they have to compare who and comparable so the two in pure perf the 6900 xt breaks the 3090 and 3090 ti and his person admits it

Can you please keep to English in the threads, we don't need multiple languages :)

Good luck with the card. It baffles me why people seem to wish to risk bricking something for an upgrade. Would have been easier and cheaper to buy a 6950XT in the first place if it goes wrong....

so no because when I buy them there was no 6950 xt that was released, moreover my last solution was bios mods on the card, today I managed to wait 2250 mhz on the vram and 2912 mhz on the core clock without any artifact or other problem

now they have to find something to cool my card because I'm expecting a high temperature and I couldn't go beyond 2912 mhz so big custom watercooling requires

Water cooling is always helpful with the core speeds etc. but it does come at a price.... Its not cheap to do...
