Foremay, Inc., a leader of technology innovation in solid state drives and one of the world's Top SSD OEMs, today announced its 2 TB SSD drives with a standard 2.5" SATA interface and a thickness of 9.5 mm. The 2 TB SSD drives are offered in Foremay's SC199 (for mission-critical applications) and TC166 (for terminal computing) product families. Users can opt for either industrial or commercial grade to suit their specific application. Foremay's 2 TB drive is the largest SSD in the world today in standard 2.5" SATA form factor.

"By leveraging Foremay's patent pending technologies, we are proud to deliver the world's first 2 TB SSD in standard 2.5" SATA form factor," said Jack Winters , Foremay's CTO and co-founder. "We hope our high reliability 2 TB SSD drives can help create more design freedom and storage space for both mission-critical and enterprise applications."

In additional to integrated flash management technologies such as Self-Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technology (S.M.A.R.T. ), Advanced Power Management (APM) and advanced error correction algorithm, Foremay's 2 TB SSD drive also provides optional features such as fast erase, military secure erase methods, hardware based encryption and conformal coating.

Product Availability
Both the 2 TB SSD and 1 TB SSD in 2.5" SATA form factors are in production now, offered at both industrial and commercial operating temperatures.

and how many thousand will this cost? DO WANT!

damn, If we can fast forward the time :)...hope in next couple years, 2TB SSD reach $110 level :)

I thought the Worlds First 1TB was just released not long ago.

yea foremay heard about that ...... then they showed the world what is REALLY going on haha

2Tb is sick for SSD

Another yawner. SSD needs PCIe not sata.

until motherboards start supporting this and giving more slots for the purpose of SSD (and better placed i might add) SATA is the way to go. its easier, you get to move the SSD around and only need to hook up a cable. sata3 is just fine for modern SSD's

Eh?

Time to install PCIe SSD: 15 seconds.

Time to install SATA SSD: ~10 minutes. (Gotta make the cables neat and blend in with existing installation).

SATA bottleneck is annoying, the rest is irrelevant. I don't give two nickels about cables and stuff. I don't plug in/remove drives every two seconds.

I guess it depends on what you mean by affordable. I wonder if SSDs will ever come down to .40-.50 cents per gig.

Of course they will, probably way cheaper as well until they become obsolete by ram disks.

I think you might be having the Kingston 1TB USB Flash Drive (from a previous article not too long ago) in mind, but 1TB SSDs have been around for a while except that they are generally too expensive to buy and as they don't sell so often you may not see them on a lot of PC specialist websites.

well 1$ per gig , + only one's with 2TB = 2000$ + premium of 1000$

il take a box full . and i will pay in 198 month please

Once this costs around $100 I'll upgrade to an SSD.

Till then I'll just dwell in the past.

The EC188™ D-Series PCIe SSD has a standard PCI Express interface that boosts read/write speed up to 1,600/1,500 MB/s with capacity up to 2 TB for single bus slot and 4 TB for dual bus slots designs. With the unique scalability of our EC188 PCIe SSD design, the tested maximum capacity can be configured up to 12 TB for hexa bus slots configurations with read/write speed up to 4.5/3.5 GB/s

"military secure erase methods"; "military grade capacitors";"military grade quality";"military grade mobos", etc, etc...WTF is this new marketing s**t gimmick??? Sounds so stupid already.
Military grade underpants...

So this is gonna cost $2000?

1GB=10¢

when???
