Forza Motorsport and 7900 XTX driver timeout (likely other AMD too)

A quick glance around shows this is pretty common - I get a CTD, no errors from Forza but the AMD driver detects a timeout. Happens pretty much every time the post race rewards screen comes up, sometimes after the intro cinematic while starting a track. I'm on 23.30.01.02 but saw same behavior on the two previous driver versions as well. Anyone else here? Any solutions?

All my driver timeouts regardless of game were fixed by limiting my max GPU freqency to 2800 and minimum to 2200-2400.
For some reason the driver had my "Max GPU" frequency set to 3100, i never saw it go that high but lowering it sure did stabilize things.

Played forza when it unlocked last night for around 1 hour with zero issues.

Nope, limiting boost clocks like that did nothing. Consistent crash while loading in to Eagle Rock Speedway. Still crashes on the race rewards screen for other tracks.

Thank you for the suggestion though.

This issue along with your random issues you posted in your other threads, i think you may have a defective card.. still within RMA or return window? I assume not.

I'd be right there with you if I didn't finally have it working with literally everything else. This also seems to be a fairly widespread issue.

I've been playing the game quite a bit, well over an hour.

I Just tried the track you mentioned "Eagle Rock Speedway" and instant driver timeout.. Weird it doesnt do that on other tracks although i have not tied all of them yet.

Looks like a driver bug. It's nice that you both got reproductions, hopefully they can get it fixed so more people can enjoy the game. Cheers

@faye and @Psychoholic sorry to hear about the driver timeouts. The game is a hot mess on nvidia at the moment as well. Horrible image quality and road texture dropouts/missing/going reflective.

Not just me - the forza.net forums have a huge thread on it.

Glad I didn't buy it for now.

Mine runs fine as long as i dont play that eagle rock speedway track.

But yeah, seems to be a mess, someone posted on reddit it was crashing on xbox even, lol

For sure if I didn't get the Premium edition for the same price as standard I would be pretty bummed..... Seems like it shipped a month or two too early on PC at least.

I am so glad I did not pull the trigger on this yet. I am currently playing 7. The 20 tracks is a bummer to me. I hope they fix these issues quickly. This is the first Racing Game in a while that is this buggy. FH5 was really good on PC. Can anyone confirm what FPS you people are getting while being able to play?

Appears to be a constant recurring battle between management and development teams these days. Must launch and fix later. Now being the holidays coming up, need a head start to doing bundles and other promos I'm sure.

I've officially given up on this one until AMD releases a driver fix or the Forza devs release a patch. It's a shame as I enjoyed the little bit I managed to play.

Yikes...

As expensive as PC gaming is, it's kinda ironic consoles get the premium day-1 experience. It's to the point I don't even buy triple-As until several patches down the line (and a Steam sale or two).

It's crashing on Xbox also so likely whatever is causing RDNA gpus to crash is on the game side and needs to be patched.

None here either but there are a ton of reports of crashing.

Might be limited to 7000 series though most reports are coming from them.

I did see some 30 series reports also.

I have rx7900xtx and game was crashing quite often for me, I was able to fix it by using max video settings but with rt off, for whatever reason low shadow settings can make u crash when loading into specific tracks like hakone gp.
Using auto ultra does work... But to be safe it's better to just setup manually all settings to max (resolution scale 100%)
Tho I still get drops from 100 fps to even 35 on some tracks... Weird

That doesn't fix it for me. I've heard all kinds of settings combinations that avoid issues for some - I've also been told turning off moving backgrounds in accessibility fixes it for some, for example, but no such luck.

This Game is obviously unfinished by the developer. The fact that consoles are having the same issue speaks to that.

I just got a month of Gamepass and am installing it now to see what happens and if I can help out in anyway. I guess that would be my recommendation for anyone who is interested on playing on PC. I expect a month is enough and if i like it I will get a Xbox gift card and link my account to that.

My biggest problem is the game keeps getting stuck on applying settings after a campaign race
i have to quit before continuing
thats why ive done the laguna race 3 times in the golf

Apparently the last driver update (23.10.1) included update to fixed Forza issues, but it was pulled from AMD's site due to Anti-lag+ issues.

Doesn't fix them for me. Exact same race rewards crash as always (after the podium).
