Wait... as others said, those cables show its ARGB.. 3 pin cables.

From a website selling it here in Au:

ARGB relies on detecting how many LED's there are if software controlled, could that be part of why DS's results were dim?

Same, but as usual : "Itx is a niche market bla bla bla, it's impossible to please the people who want optimized space and the people who want maximum compatibility and ATX support at the same time bla bla"
Lots of high-end designs in the iTX space, not many good value options though, I think Coolermaster makes a sandwhich (Dan Case) style iTX case thats good.

I'd like to see this design scaled down though too, this thing is just way too big. I'd like to see a smaller ATX, mATX and iTX in this design language and features.

Also, I just realized this huge beast of ATX case can only hold 4 3.5" drives? I mean I don't need more than 4 but you'd think a case this big would have more options.

Ideal world would be SKU with ARGB and SKU with no fans at all.

Fun fact, the fans are ARGB in the RGB models, at least according to other reviews and Fractal Design's own spec sheets.

Fan and strip are definitely ARGB!

Fans are actually ARGB - I did not tune into the 5V 3-Pin connector fact due to tunnel vision writing this review with "RGB" vs. "ARGB" in the product name and my lack of familiarity with the Gigabyte motherboard control software to trigger cool ARGB effects. Fixed it in the review. Thanks for pointing that out!

Nice review! Great performance, a true Fortress 02 successor indeed. I have to say, I love that CPU tower cooler pictured on the introduction page, with the face of it matching the aesthetic of the cases front panel. Throw in a 30 series FE card with its exposed angular black fins, that would be one awesome looking build.

Even with the ARGB edits, your lights do seem really dim

vs stock photo

vs tomshardware (where you can clearly see the ARGB, also)

you should definitely look into an external hardware controller to rule out software issues, i've got some simple ones with clicky buttons and an MSI model with an IR remote

Antec Dark Phantom DP502 FLUX works for me on air. Fits NH-D15 depending on RAM size.$75.60 CDN. 3-3pin ARGB front,1-120mm back and 1-PSU cage reverse
fans. The bottom PSU fan can be mostly blocked by PSU ( Corsair HX850) but room for 2. Top is open with capacity for 240/360 AIO (not sure about closed loop). Filters throughout.
5-ARGB controller inputs and 5-3 pin fan connections with PWM fan connection to MB. Wish I could easily remove the front swing door but not a prob. Has mount for ODD which are
easily removed for 360 mm top cooling. Tempered glass, cheap and well reviewed.

So 5 fans , 3 ARBG, 2 non, controller with MB PWM connection in newer models , tempered glass and room for more fans or liquid and was inexpensive in May.

That is not a controller issue, I ensured the brightness was up all the way. If you look at the finished build side picture, you can see the LEDs are bright but literally just point outwards with about 3-4 mm room to the fan blades. On top of that, the blades are not translucent enough as on other ARGB fans out there, so the result is very generally dim.

It's just odd that others photos show it different

I agree the LED's are in a bad spot for that use, i just want to know why theres such a large difference in looks

Lighting conditions are vastly different in between the photos in this review and the ones tomshardware has taken. Vast amounts of ambient light make the rgb effects dimmer in comparison.

Pros/Cons vs. Meshify 2?

Why won't Fractal do a true all-white for the Meshify 2? :\

I want to like this but the top panel fitment in all the review samples I've seen is bad and it ends up making it look cheap.

It's gotta be an issue with the materials used, as they havent done it for a few generations

I had the white/gold R5 and loved the tits off that build, before the ex-wife took it

for those about rgb fans rgb fans rgb fans , theres a non rgb fan version already just the strip on the psu. the one almost everyone is reviewing on video
Jay also did a video on this case and he liked it.

My take on this case? I like the fact that it has a reset button, but not really a fan of the front panel ports and buttons being on top of the case. I've never liked this on any case. Also think a version of this case with at least one 5.25" and one 3.5" bay would be ideal.

nice. thanks. somehow I missed that. I just found pictures of it, it does look small enough that it will gather the dust just fine. very good.

this indeed is a winner of a case. I do agree with Steve from GamersNexus on his review of it though, there could have been room for an addon option for extra 3.5 inch drives. Plenty of room not being used, but I do like this case a lot.
After using it for about a month i can you these filters do an amazing job. Upgraded from an o11 dynamic, the filters there were both very restrictive and werent as good at stopping dust as the ones on fractal torrent are. As for temperatures, yeah, you won't believe your eyes

Top mounted makes sense for a lot of situations, i like it for sticking my USB NVME drives up there so they can sit on top of the case and get air from the fans blow over them
If you want ports down lower, that's what a USB hub is for ;)

Fractal is really, REALLY good with warranty. sent me a new top panel for mine after the USB-C port caught fire, with no questions asked other than photos. Not even serial numbers or date of purchase.

I have the R6 TG, but given a choice for a new build the torrent is top of the list
(Oh and i also demand a reset button, many modern ARGB controllers let you use it to control case lighting, and on ASUS you can even use it to control mobo lighting, or as a 'directly enter BIOS' button)

Yeah the way those heatsinks design parallel with the case, very nice but too good to be true.

Just upgraded to a Torrent case, must say the RGB are bright and not as dim as in the review. It also help lower the GPU temp by 5 degrees at the very least. Love it!
