I think so. I'm not exactly sure when either of them was released. I would have to look it up.

there is a G700 and G700s.. the s being a later variant.. very similar though.. the basic design has been around for quite some time..

trog

ps.. being able to use just one battery means they run in parallel at 1.5 volts.. it gives the option of lighter weight but you have to change the battery more often or more weight and change the batteries less often..

when a G700 is used with its cable it can be run with no battery.. it gets both power and data over the cable.. it becomes a wired mouse in essence.. less weight but the cable is a bit on the stiff side..

logitech stated on their forums that the g700's do not have any idle mode at all, and the laser is always on to prevent a pause while it woke up in game, which happened on some of their earlier wireless mice.

i use a 1.5M (ish) long cable from my old galaxy S1, and charge it overnight. never an issue - the power warning for 10% comes up and i still have hours left in it.
But it has. It has a "Energy Saving Mode" a "Normal Gaming Mode" and a "Optimal Gaming Mode. Also it shuts itself off after not using it for a while, 30 to 60 sec I guess - it only activates again if touched properly and moved. I know this for a fact. Without it my battery would be constantly empty. If I use the Gaming Mode all the time the battery time is halved - and when I shut off the PC or don't use it I don't deactivate the mouse, I just leave it and go away.

The way the modes function is most likely that the time between standby and on mode is reduced if you chose the Energy Saving Mode for example and in Optimal Gaming Mode does take longer to go to Energy Saving + Idle (stand by) modes.

But anway, to anyone who wants longer usage time: simply get yourself a high capacitor battery with 2800 or more MAh (best, get 2 of it) and charge it with a discrete charger. Then just swap batteries, never use the cable. The battery delivered with it is very good although it has a MAh of only 2000. The plus of it is, it doesn't lose much energy, the higher capacitor batteries do - that's why I would only recommend them to continous users or serious gamers. Wouldn't make any sense otherwise, because they simply lose too much energy on its own.

@Aquinus : Also you're mouse has 2 batteries, that makes a big difference too. The Logitech Marathon mouse for example is a laser mouse too, but it works in a very strict energy saving mode with a receiver that is only capable for low distances (1-2 meters only, the receiver is very weak compared to the one of G700) and it has 2 batteries. On the AD it states it has a battery endurance of ~1 year. Should ask my uncles how true that is, two uncles of mine use them.

its what the logitech rep said. even in its power saving mode, its not fully shutting down like their other mice do. TBH, probably a technical limitation or design flaw since their other wireless mice last a lot longer.

Also, you can get sanyo eneloops in higher ratings - i run a 4 pack of their 2400 mah batteries as an upgrade to the stock 1900mah

Well you mean if you are using the mouse? Yeah it's power usage is quite high. But the power-off function still works, that's somewhat more important to me, because I don't really care much about the battery charging.
These 2400 MAh Eneloops have low power loss I guess? That would be an option, I need some new batterys, atm I just use the one delivered with the mouse, the 2800 one didn't make it longer than 2 years.

but with batteries that last literally months at idle in higher draw devices, they certainly go flat quickly when not used for a few days. i find myself switching the one i'm not using at the time off in order to get any decent idle battery life out of it.
