The Galax GeForce RTX 5080 1-Click OC comes at no price increase over NVIDIA MSRP: it sells for $1000. That makes it an excellent alternative to the NVIDIA Founders Edition. You even get an improved cooling solution that runs quieter than NVIDIA's reference card.

Seems like we don't need those large cinderblock coolers to get good cooling after all.

It's almost as if GPU manufacturers are purposefully creating giant cooling solutions to strain the PCB's for them to break all the sooner. Probably a well timed break, right after the warranty expires.

I'll just say FIX ME, on page 42.

BTT: The Galax seems to be an average card.

Seems like the we don't need those large cinderblock coolers to get good cooling.
Maybe, maybe not. The 5080FE seems to be very loud and not that cool compared to a 5090 that uses twice the power.
Nvidia seems to be saved some corners on the FE cooler of the 5080. No liquid metal for example.

Correct. I haven't benched those values yet, and the test rig is busy with another GPU for tomorrow

will update today

I'm waiting for March releases of RTX5060 and RX9700. I'm hoping for price reduction on RX7600. Then again, latest releases show there's little to expect.

I'll add my 2 cents. You guys do the best job reviewing GPU's. I also saved my RX570 crypto GPU I bught some time ago, with BIOS I found on your website. Keep up the good work!

I'm a little disappointed in the 5000 series, especially the memory OC limit. I was hoping they would drive the prices of AMD's offerings down a bit more than I'm expecting.

Yeah i do not see a point in upgrading from a 4XXX series to this to be honest, ill stick to 4090 for now.

It is rare that tech advances that much in technology in one generation that the absolute top of the line worth replacement,
Except if you have to hide something from the IRS/local tax office :D

Just as a curiosity, why there seems to be no Physx support as shown by GPU-Z ? :)

I'm pleased to see a good range of fan speeds. 30% is 600 RPM with this card. This could offer silent operation when playing less-intensive games.

Most cards, even Galax's other models, have minimum (30%) RPM of 900, 1000, or even 1200, which is a needless restriction.

Pretty underwhelming performance vs last gen but gees, it's not far off a 4090 in a lot of instances. You'd have to seriously consider it if you're in the market for a new card. Its US 600 cheaper than a 4090 and soundly beats 4080S for the same money. Not sure why it's getting so much hate?

Mainly because it's the first 8-series to not match the previous flagship in like... ever?
Also, I think it's because it does the bare minimum over the former 8 (both the 4080 and 4080 Super, ESPECIALLY the Super).

I feel the reason the GB203 is as small as it is because it is about the largest size you can fit into a laptop (as the 5090 Mobile GPU). They choose to do this over making a larger 384-bit bus chip that would consume too much power for a laptop form factor. The GB203 serves the 5070 Ti, 5080, 5080 Mobile, and 5090 Mobile, which is pretty efficient use of a single chip design.

That is not true.
There is a AMD Radeon RX 7900M with big Navi 31 529mm².
There was also the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Mobile with 496mm² for the most recent examples.

Its just smaller chips run better with lower power.

Apologies. By size I meant power, especially at idle.

I think Galax has a winner here. Competes well VS the FE and does so without using more power or running hotter(no, 2C doesn't count for much in my book).

Fair point.

There has been a fair bit of disgust at this GPU. I honestly don't think it's that bad considering what the current GPU landscape has to offer.
