4090 was far from a ripoff. Just imagine how much you are going to spend if you bought something else in 2022 to reach the performance of the 4090. Let's say you paid half the money (so 1k$ for an xtx). In 2027 - 2028, 6 years later you might get something that matches the 4090, and it probably won't cost less than 1k. So you are going to need to spent the same money but you were missing the actual performance for 6 years.
According to Nvidia a RTX 5070 will beat it ROFL even they don't give a shit about their previous flagship so it's great you can defend a £1599 MSRP card being sold for over £2000 performance aside that's a bloody rip-off and people like you need to catch yourselves on and stop white knighting this bollox.

Always read the fine print. ;)

Glad you got it out of your system, but AMD's GPUs haven't been able to meet MSRP price targets either. A few cards were subsidized and whoever got that lot at MSRP, did it, anyone else won't be so lucky. The supply simply cannot meet demand.

AMD all the way - until they too become anti-consumer.

I reckon you're already too late for that, at least if you're one of their Threadripper customers.

Im just presenting some facts. In order to get to the 4090 level youd end up just paying more money than what the 4090 costs while having worse performance in the meantime. Sometimes paying less money ends up costing more at the end. We are in 2025, 3 years later and the competition doesn't have a 4090 competitor yet. They won't probably have one until 2027 or 2028. So 1599 msrp to get something 6 years early? The consumer is the one ripping nvidia off in this case.

As you see them and you can keep them.

Yes AMD 9070 over MRSP currently and maybe in the future that's yet to be seen but apart from COVID they haven't been unlike Nvidia at least I've never had a problem buying MSRP AMD cards and if I want to pay more that's been a choice and not demanded the way it is currently. The market needs realignment and pricing needs to be honest.

Previously was because nobody wanted AMD cards (until DeepSeek AI took off), now it's because there's no supply and gamers actually want the 9070/XT

can't really win :nutkick:

That sounds a lot like "the more you buy the more you save".
Most people don't even need a 4090, AMD trying to compete with the high doesn't make much sense either. As for the 5090 not moving off of shelves it isn't surprising given the pricing, the pricing is so absurd it isn't worth it to many who want one for AI tasks.

The question is, where are all those Founder Edition cards from nVidia?!? I cannot seem to find those anywhere, not even sold out . Or those are just a marketing scam?

They kept them all to sell at the food truck a week or two ago at that convention.

Yeah , where are all these Founders edition cards ? We were promised !
Looks like they are only selling them via their Verified program now. The last that were sold through BB online was 2/20 according to the stock trackers, and I received mine through the VPA a few weeks after that.

I can see China exploiting Ngreedia's, Radeon's and TSMC's greed by offering affordable high end gaming dGPUs to retail caonsumers, just like they did with solar panels & now batteries and EVs. Chinese love PC gaming, consoles not so much, and where there is huge market demand sooner or later supply follows.

There was an ASUS 5090 LC here in Denver's branch, I went after work and best believe that mofo was sold. Whoever took that picture, just so happen to be there for restock because they are selling at $4000.

They are real but only in specific countries.

In the UK they sold via an official retailer (SCAN) who has to take precautions to try and prevent bot purchases, UK address only, multi buy etc. All FE sold in UK so far have stayed at MSRP for the duration of the product's life. They also not listed on the retailer's page instead have to buy via the Nvidia web site link.

Whenever I have monitored stock it seems to get a restock on average between 2-4 weeks. When I got my 3080 FE, stock lasted maybe a minute or two at the most. When I got my 4080 FE super, first restock I missed, second I got and it stayed in stock for a while (cant remember if it was hours or days). Nvidia also keep producing cheaper SKU's so e.g. when 3080 TI FE came out, 3080 10 gig FE kept getting restocked even though the ti was much more profit at a way higher MSRP. The AIB's have developed a habit of abandoning cheaper SKU's shortly after launch.

America does it differently they seem to be on retail shelves?

I would never buy a AIO GPU anyways. 5 years is about all you get before the pump fails. Expensive paperweight.
Not true at all. I have two AMD Fury X's (one in two different computers) that are still going strong.

This entire article is stupid, they got 15 units and sold out in under 3 hours. Store rep said it was more then they got the entirety of launch day.

I don't know how long ago this was, but I don't see any available on Dallas' MicroCenter website...
Yeah this article was a lie. This was a freshly stocked cabinet, and hours later all the GPUs were sold. They’re still selling at these prices.

5070 doesn’t come close to 4090, it’s become a meme in the entire gaming space. Look up all the jokes.

And people can sell their 4090s for more now than they bought them for in 2022, which makes it an incredible investment.

I think most people draw the final line at 1000 USD mark. Anyone paying beyond that is enthusiast or has some orher non-gaming use for any such GPU
I came to say the exact same amount. I'm happily running a 7900xt, and while I wish it was a xtx, there was a $300 premium when I purchased my card.

Without question! Every single 5090 has sold in the Denver Location and they only seem to be getting the Asus Astral LC at that. I've seen a couple Zotac 5090s on the same day as the 9950X3D launch and nothing but Asus since.

Yeah man, since this post I did my new build and my 6900XT went into my son's computer since the Fury X couldn't play Marvel Rivals - no Direct X 12. Outside of that, those cards with their weak 4GB of HBM RAM did alright over the years. Now the wife's computer will have a GPU replacement whenever her's dies.

Since The CPU chipset will only last 2-5 years, a new mother board needed to keep up with Tech, and next year they will proclaim "Best thing ever" again ... Why not just leave it on the shelf until next year. In today's economy its more intelligent to be behind the times than paying a premium for something that's really not that impressive ( The GPUs don't even use full bandwidth x16, and they can't compete with an acceleration card priced the same running Inference). Nvidia is going to have a dip due to not regulating scalping and MSRP : Listing price ratios.

Nobody mentioned that perhaps that form factor with the watercooling and separate radiator is not as suitable to AI rigs, and therefore faces much less demand, while the other regular air-cooled models keep flying off the shelves at insane prices.
