GIGABYTE Announces the GeForce GTX 1080 Xtreme Gaming

GIGABYTE launched its flagship GeForce GTX 1080 Xtreme Gaming graphics card. This card features GIGABYTE's highest factory-overclock for the GTX 1080, supported by a custom-design PCB with a strong VRM, and a meaty new custom design cooling solution. The company's new WindForce Stack 3X cooler features three fans in a "stacked" configuration, with the middle fan slightly receded from the plane of the other two fans. This arrangement, according to GIGABYTE, maximizes air-flow to the heatsink.

The cooler also features RGB LED lighting on an X-shaped design element, and a logo on the top of the card, right next to its two 8-pin PCIe power inputs. The cooler comes with a back-plate. GIGABYTE is including quite a few useful accessories with the card, including a 2U-spaced SLI HB bridge, a front-panel that fits into a 5.25-inch drive bay, giving you two HDMI 2.0b ports, and a pair of USB 3.0 ports relayed from your motherboard header; or a rear-panel bracket that puts out those two HDMI 2.0b ports from the card. GIGABYTE is backing the card with a staggering 4-year warranty (online registration needed).

Nothing is truly extreme without vBIOS and TDP control.
No voltage control? i wouldn't then bother with a high profile card. Rather have a smaller and quiter one.
A common wrong assumption people have is that an extra 6PIN or 8PIN magically adds extra OC capabilities.

I'm pretty sure Gigabyte wouldn't bother giving the card the ability to pull an extra 150W of juice unless they'd unlocked all the voltage control options. To be honest, even if it is fully unlocked, an extra 150W on a card that is specced up to 225W at maximum load seems... excessive.

On the other hand, there's little reason to spend the money on such cards if you're not going to do wild things with them.

Newegg's list price for the G1 is $650. I think the Xtreme Gaming comes in at around $710-720

They hinted on two versions, premium pack and regular without extra fluff bundled if I understood correctly. I'm ok with founders pricing, as long as the card is the fastest and quietest out there.

It is indeed excessive, that's why we only put 1 8 pin on the G1.
But the TDP for the Xtreme Gaming card will be higher and that's why we put a very beefy cooler on it.

There will be news about an exit of 1080 XTREME GAMING on following weeks? It is heavy to wait even for news about an exit when it is already possible to buy. Evga FTW Asus Strix and zotac extreme. But i don't buy I wait for news at least.
