for the first time in years i actually like a Gigabyte board. it looks like they took some cues from asus though.... i think thats what makes me like it.

Wasn't there a proposed merger last year? Also, the Asus Maximus Formula, ASUS R.O.G. Pinot Noir and Asus BLITZ Extreme are water-cooling ready like this board.

My experiences with Gigabytes X38 has turned me off Gigabyte for a high end motherboard. That big chipset cooler looks like more of the same...gimics over substance.

Can you tell what happened so that we know why to avoid gigabyte?

I had a DS3L P35 and alot of people were saying they just randomly died after a week/month of use.. well that happened to me and my friends Gigabyte Nforce 550 AMD board did the same and there support is terrible.

I wonder what kind of temps they expect from that chipset to need something like that. I imagine that will be helpful, but really...damn! Kinda rediculous.

i think they just like overkill so you feel like your getting something extra special from buying one of their boards.

It looks like a sweet board to me and yes the pink slots will be white on final version

and to all you people that keep saying ASUS and Gigabyte merged last year
that lasted all of about a month Gigabyte told asus to take a hike (get lost)

gest thing Gigabyte ever did i have owned 2 Asus boards both being crap one was the striker extreme a 400.00 paper weight
right now useing A Gigabyte-GA-N680SLI-DQ6 one of the best board i ever had

i like the board but for those of us that use a sound card like me my creative soundblaster elite pro uses a PCI slot and in SLI mode i cant use my sound card

and i dont want to use the said onboard sond chip so i guess ill have to say with Gigabyte-GA-N680SLI-DQ6 for now
