Here's the first picture of the GIGABYTE X299 Aorus Gaming 9 motherboard, a TechPowerUp-exclusive. This socket LGA2066 motherboard is ready for upcoming Core i7 "Kaby Lake-X" 4-core, and "Skylake-X" 6-core, 8-core, 10-core, and 12-core processors. Based on Intel X299 Express chipset, this board draws power from two 8-pin EPS power connectors, besides 24-pin ATX. This could become the norm with X299 motherboards. There could either be a second 8-pin EPS or a second 4-pin ATX connector. A 12-phase VRM conditions power.

The LGA2066 socket is wired to four PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots, which can be configured as electrical x8/x8/x8/x8 or x16/NC/x16/NC or x16/NC/x8/x8 with "Skylake-X" 10-core and 12-core chips; or x8/NC/x8/x4 or x16/NC/NC/x4 with "Kaby Lake-X" quad-core and "Skylake-X" 6-core and 8-core chips. The 5th x16 slot is electrical x4 and wired to the PCH. There are plenty of storage options, including two 32 Gb/s M.2 (up to 80 mm) slots, a 32 Gb/s M.2 (up to 110 mm) slot, with native NVMe RAID and Optane support; and eight SATA 6 Gb/s. The board features ASMedia ASM3142 USB 3.1 controller with type-A and type-C ports on the rear panel, as well as additional ports through headers.

The board features a pair of gigabit Ethernet interfaces, besides 802.11ac WLAN with Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity. It also features GIGABYTE's most advanced AMP-UP onboard audio solution, with a 127 dBA SNR ESS SABRE CODEC, LME 49720 + OPA1622 amps, WIMA audio grade capacitors (found in some of the most expensive DACs), and Creative Sound Blaster 720° DSPs. With the coveted "Gaming 9" extension, this board could very well be GIGABYTE's most expensive LGA2066 offering, when it hits the shelves in mid-June.

First Aorus board that looks like serious business.

But how much fps in Far Cry? :)

So Intel still haven't gotten native USB 3.1 gen 2 support?

I wonder if this Aorus obsession signals the end of 'Designare'. Not rhetorical, this makes the difference between waiting for a Designare (what used to be the flagship) and picking this one up.

I also have to note that this one is an improvement over mine, it has a post code led and a reset button. Finally, lol
Can anyone spot the dual BIOS switch? Am not seeing that either.

And last but not least, i have to seriously consider if i'm getting this or the Asrock equivalent; may sound off topic, but not really. Gigabyte has an issue with pushing BIOS drivers out and considering this is a new platform... really not so sure this time around :S

edit: on the other hand, i love their BIOS. Simple, to the point, without 56 pages of click click options just so we can say they're there. Buttanzz!!!!11!

I need m-atx please!

Well i'd like to build an itx form factor one with possibly a 7900x (if under 700$)

Saw the leaked pics on other sites and too much bling on that board. Somehow the Asrock boards are looking sensible this time around.

Wait a second.... so now we have to buy the 10-core variant if we want 32 PCI-E lanes, whereas with Broadwell-E we only had to buy the 6-core 6850K?? That's some B.S

According to rumors, yes.

Thats a bit lame

i suppose at least the chipset had 24 lanes of 3.0 this time, still limited to a degree by dmi 3.0's 4x pci-e 3.0 equivalent speed though
