Santa Monica Studio, a video game developer, seated in Los Angeles and owned by PlayStation Studios, is the creator of the highly successful game God of War. Today, the company announced that they would be releasing a God of War port for PC owners, entering a whole new market. The PC port of the game will allow thousands of players to enjoy the story of Kratos and his adventures with a considerable boost to graphics. According to a company announcement, the PC port will allow fine-tuning of graphics settings, including a range of new technologies to back it.

Some essential upgrades over the console port include native 4K rendering and an unlimited frame rate. The company stated that the ambient occlusion pipeline had been upgraded with GTAO and SSDO tech, creating unique visuals. In addition to that, the game will feature support for NVIDIA's Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) and Reflex low-latency technology. For controllers, the game will feature support for Sony's DualSense and DualShock4 controllers. And last but not least, ultrawide gamers are in luck as well, as the game will support a 21:9 aspect ratio. The game is going to be available on January 14, 2022, on the Steam storefront.

For some PC visuals, check out the images and the video below.

I will finally play GoW after so many years of hype.

A port that may never have happened without the Ngreedia Subsidization

It's OK.

It just felt like any other Playstation title to me. More linear which means that story is more important than open world boringness thus it was much better than most of the other titles. Still didn't care for it nearly as much people hyped it up to be.

Crude ports and remasters.
PC gamers are starving for good content.

Remasters are the next best thing IMO. I hope they continue because there's still alot of games that needs to be re-done.

I'm kind of in the same boat, played a bit of the beginning but haven't gotten around to continue it yet

What!? Are you nuts? Get the chance to pay again for the same content with a marginal increase in quality? Like look at the new GTA remasters, they're terrible and unnecessary when the mod community already had similar or better stuff out there, which of course Take Two killed off before announcing their remaster

Quite frankly, no single game is worth front page posting. My views are the same as last post about this game, Last week? IDC, how hyped or most acclaimed it is. :shadedshu:

But then its a short route to killing all Intel/AMD/component press releases too.

Gonna be a pretty dull FP. I still agree :P

nothing like a good port

How is that like an actual game release?

I wasn't a fan of whichever release it was that I played. If I recall right, it's one of those games that requires the right button combos to defeat bosses, and that means I get frustrated while my rear is handed to me over and over again. I don't usually give up on games, but GoW, I did.

i bet they screw up the keys for the PC like most of these ports do, then again a lot of games have been lacking in for a while now.

Because GoW is the better game. And it starts with simple design choices like how to implement running / fast moving in a game.
Of course this is all an opinion thing and subjective.

I am a PC gamer but the only thing I don't play on PC are PS exclusives. Platinumed this game in 2018 on PS4P and it was great. I am eager to replay it in 4K/60 but couldn't get a PS5.
Now I won't need a PS5.
In the end this is good for everybody, because its more games for more gamers. And that the PS exclusives are generally games in the 80+ region doesn't hurt either.

Will this be best played with controller? I know I couldn't play DS2 at all with KB&M. Can't wait to play it, and now hope TLOU is ported next, fully remastered.

Yes now we won't need a PS5, except for Spiderman xD
I hope they released Uncharted Series next year tho

Well, if you don't want to wait 4 years to play GoW:Ragnarök, you may need a PS5...

I really hope they release remakes of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic I & II, RTX included, would love to throw a lightsaber down a dark corridor and see it all light up. ^_^

Agree. I was also waiting for a PS5, but supply is almost non-existent, except for crazily priced ones. This is actually one of the games that I was hoping to playing on PS5, and now that it is coming to PC, there is little reason for me to get a PS5. I don't mind waiting even if Sony don't release the games on PS and PC concurrently due to obvious reasons, but as long as it trickles down to the PC eventually, I think it is good enough. I think it is a win for Sony as well because if I look at the prices of GOW for PS4/5 now, it is very cheap. By releasing it on PC after a few years, they are selling it at their launch day price again, which is extra earnings for them as oppose to releasing it exclusively on PS.

Wasn't there a KOTOR 1 remake announcement a few weeks ago?

What?! Did Nvidia subsidize all the other ports too? Horizon Zero Dawn, Days Gone and all the Quantic Dream games as well?

GOTY? It's GOAT in my books.
And I played all GOWs that were out.

Graphics is unbelievable, given that PS4 wields something like 7870, but that's the way Santa Monica does stuff anyway.

But the gameplay mechanics is OMG, which ungodly genius did that.
You can feel the crazy magical tomahawky axe.

What was there before in boss fights, smash some button quickly?
Now it's a whole choreography.
Oh and last instant evasion to trigger cool effects too.

RPG aspects got better, gear is amazing, from glass cannon style to "hurt me plenty".

One needs to play at harder difficulties (and face Valkyries) to appreciate this astonishing game fully.

To bad they are only doing Re-masters to mediocre games. I would personally prefer a remaster of the first 2 DeusEx games, Max Payne games, Unreal 1/2, Descent FreeSpace 1/2, etc, games that were work of arts back in the days.
