Well i want a specific model, which is the Strix, because of the heatsink and deshroud options.

Not everyone is fine a cheap ass noisy cooler.

When viewing the weekly chart of BTC, "from my perspective" and five decades of experience under my belt tells me prices in graphics cards are simply "following the trend". As long as BTC rolls over here(and I believe firmly that it will), graphics card prices are ready to tumble in price. I expect severe price shocks...to the downside. When everyone is expecting inflation...when there is none...deflation is right around the corner. Supply shocks are not inflation, nor are they inflationary. Nothing but temporary supply disruption, exacerbated by "perception" of future price increases.

What about all of this demand Liquid Cool? It will dry up immediately.

It's happening right before your eyes, just wait a little while longer. Not much time left here.

The STRIX is overrated and overpriced. Get the TUF which is basically the same thing for way less money and equally deshroudable.

BTC dictates the overall trend of the market and hence the interest in mining of altcoins. Most people follow the stock to flow model and according to it BTC was undervalued before the May crash and it still is, so there is still room for growth. My estimation is that miners will keep buying GPUs until somewhere next year when BTC will enter it's "constant" valuation period for the next 3-4 years and interest in crypto dries up.

This would have been an identical repeat of the 2017 situation and by now mining would have been completely dead if it wasn't for the fact that the crash happened before BTC actually became overvalued as it did at the end of 2017. So now we got a second run.

Most people are wrong. There are better modeling techniques.

As I see it GPU shortages and cost are only part of the issue. There is an inherent shortage of cryptocurrency coins. The cost of electricity is also a factor. What investors believe to be true is probably more important. Enforcement of crime is also a factor. Whether central banks accept/reject cryptocurrency also matters. Even Elon has to be considered. It is a very risky investment with rewards and pitfalls.

I sold my 5700XT for slightly more than I paid for it and was definitely much lower than the “going rate” but I wasn’t trying to gouge anyone and had it sold in 24hrs hassle free. That said t really didn’t offset the price I paid for my 6700XT by much…

If anyone is buying 5700XT right now it's for mining. Wouldn't feel sorry for making $$$ of someone like that.

You have to get lucky with EVGA cards. Maybe it's because they use lackluster material that causes cards to fail (such as the 3090 fiasco with the New World game) or maybe they just haven't fully taken advantage of hiking prices. I'm not sure, but their prices over other AIB tend to be lower in general, at least from what I've seen on Newegg's shuffles and from inventory that lands at Micro Center stores.

I still see EVGA 3060 cards at the $400 price point and the 3060Ti around $470. I know the 3070/3070Ti are lower in price over other AIB as well.....but, it just comes down to being able to get one before it flies of the shelf.

Never seen any good prices on evga website they are always higher than say micro center or even amazon/... which tend to discount if they don't move them fast enough.

Otherwise nvidia website was best place to get cheapest price or at least steady price that didn't go up like most others that allow third party scalpers to exist.

Egg shuffle all I saw was gigabyte gpu's so I bailed soon as I saw that, not worth it plus I have no interest in bundled crap with an already overpriced gpu.

You have to be patient with the newegg shuffle. I only put my self into the reasonably priced GPU only options. Any EVGA 3060 and 3060Ti cards that weren't bundled with other crap, and any reasonably priced 3070 from any AIB (for me, that was under $750). I'd usually get 1 or 2 days a week where I could put my name in the hat for one or two of these cards.

For example, if I was okay with $800 3070 card on newegg's shuffle today (see pic). That would be the only one on the list that I would put my name in for.

That's what I would do for nicely priced 3060 and 3060Ti cards as well. Usually a couple times a week I'd see a few cards that aren't bundled that I would put my name in for and I eventually won a chance to purchase an EVGA 3060Ti that wasn't bundled.

How sad is that, that you have to win a chance to purchase something? Yeah! I won a chance to spend my money! Err....why am I excited at winning a chance to spend my money? This sucks that I can't just freely decide to purchase something and that I have to wait to win a drawing/lottery to give a company my money. The whole concept is bonkers, if you ask me.

If you're referring to my page1 post, then that was specific to ETH, not cryptocurrencies on the whole (which are more volatile than rocket fuel left out in the sun)

"and is even showing signs of stability" is a very relative term specific to ETH because it has done two unprecedented things recently:

1. It is beginning to gain price/value independence from BTC. Not by much, but enough that is clearly seen as a very major player by investors and a real threat to BTC.
2. It plateau'd at a high price and stayed at a pretty constant price for a whole month. Whilst still volatile, for a cryptocurrency with a 30-day volatility of 0.7, that's unheard of.

"showing signs of stability" is still a long way from actual stability.

I have always scavenged on the left overs in the second hand market, but the prices are so insane for cards with no warranty I might as well buy a new super low tier card and be happy with it. I am gonna rock my RX580 until it artefacts....that's what about it.

It demonstrates that the number of people willing to overpay for a GPU is in decline.

A month ago I got a refurbished RTX 2060 Super for $400 direct from ASUS and am really glad I did. Sold my gtx 1660 ti for $420 in may so I somehow came out ahead and with an upgrade… still hate that I paid that much for an older card but apparently it was right decision given how things have gone.

Define "crappier" please.

The TUF fans are more expensive to buy from all the usual sources (gpureplacement.com, aliexpress, ebay) and are a double ball-bearing design. The higher price could be because the brand (Champion) isn't as high-volume as the common Everflow fans, so economies of scale are a factor - yet double ball-bearing is seen as the pinnacle of quality and reliability. Part number is CF9010U12D if you want to investigate further.

Meanwhile the STRIX uses the same cheap Everflow T1292155SU sleeve fans that they've been using for around a decade. Sure, you'll find updated rotors on these but they're the exact same motor and bearing that was used for cards going back to the Asus and Gigabyte R9 290X cards; I've personally seen a few of these fail. As far as I'm concerned, these are the "crappier" fans though with idle fan stop and modern cases having better dust filtration, I suspect these fans will still last far longer than the card's warranty period.

I am a member of two mining pool discord servers and replacing STRIX fans comes up occasionally, can't say I've ever seen anyone needing to replace a TUF fan for 3000-series yet....
