GTX 980/970 Club

@Jstn7477

4 X AA - Quality Ultra for Valley bench pal..

same as here, can compare better then with these... http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/t...-benchmark-scores.183712/page-31#post-3184859

thats why i did 3dmark for this thread and valley for valley thread.

My bad, I'll probably re-bench the 980 when I overclock it, but so far it seems to be destroying my R9 290 I am going to use at work for strictly Folding@Home now. The 980 is getting 330K PPD @ 1417 boost/1800 and the R9 290 pretty much never broke 200K PPD.

I have a 7970 and my 970 destroyed that, only had the 7970 12 months also. Quickest card i have gone through, so changed to nvidia for a change.

[Request]If anybody has the Aliens vs Predator 2010 Benchmark installed could you bench it at 2560x1440 and please tell me at what max TDP your card gets ? My Phantom goes to 106% 1392Mhz and 76ºC but if i adjust it in MSI AB to 77% 1316Mhz temps drop to 65ºC. So they are roughly the same as in this review http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/graphics/display/msi-geforce-gtx-970-gaming_3.html#sect0
This makes me wonder if Gainward didnt over do it with power target(power consumtion) compared to other manufacturers. Thank you.

PS: or please check any other benchmark/game what is your max power consumption with GpuZ.

Hey guys, was just wondering if anyone can answer this question for me, I have dual 980s and three monitors, but currently only use one monitor for gaming and the other two monitors as extra desktop real estate.

Back when I had my titans I couldn't enable SLI and drive all three monitors at once, as they would only display on one screen. The only solution was to use a spare 580 to drive the two other screens.

My question is, now that I have 980s, each with multiple display outputs, do I still need an extra card to drive the two other monitors if I only enable SLI for the center screen for gaming?

Hope any of you guys could help me answer this question :)

I think I might be able to help you.

A few month ago, when I first upgraded to 3D vision surround, I ran into the same problem as you - when I turned on surround spanning, SLI gets disabled. Its a well known problem and that the majority with triple monitor and SLI experience.

You should probably first double check that SLI is working properly on a single display. Then:

1) Update to the latest drivers (I assume you already did)
2) Reset the setting in nvidia control panel, under configure SLI surround and physx, to disable SLI. We want to start fresh.
3) try turning on the Span Displays with surround directly from here
i) Go through with the setup (display arrangement, bezel correction and all that).
ii) Close all other programs and apply the change.
iii) Open Furmark and Nvidia control panel, and Check if SLI is enabled. Sometimes Nvidia Control Panel is bugged and displays the SLI as disable even though its enabled and working properly.
iv) You can benchmark to make sure.
4) If the above doesnt work, try:
i) First turn on Maximise 3D performance (which enables SLI)
ii) Close all programs and apply. Make sure SLI turned on
iii) Turn on Span displays with surround from there and repeat step 3).
5) If it doesnt work, try repeating steps 3 and 4 a few times. As I said, surround and SLI is bugged. So it might not work the first time.

Btw I am running 2 way SLI, if you are using 3 way, things might be different. Also, I have 2 of my monitors connected to the top card using DVI, and the 3rd monitor to the DVI port on 2nd GPU. Physx is set on the 2nd card.

Thats how I got my 680 SLI and 980 SLI working with SLI on surround.

Look up the problem on google, many people have this problem, and some does a better job than me in providing a fix. Geforce Forum (under surround section) is also a wonderful place.

Fyi the two 980's have pretty much beast moded through every game at 4k.
Even Star citizen.
<3 it.

Guys, wanna ask. Asus Strix 970 or MSI 970 Gaming 4G, witch one is the best? Thanks in advanced.

They're both great cards. I chose the MSI GTX 970 Gaming based on what I was reading between those two cards.

Anyone having problems with Afterburner 4.0.0 and BF4??? I cant seem to launch BF4 properly with afterburner on

just tried it pal, all seems ok for me..
using latest driver and Afterburner 4.0.0

I was benchmarking for my Civ: BE review last night, and with my 970 set to stock settings, no OC program running, I saw it hit boost clocks of 1517Mhz core.

Anyone else getting similar stock boost clocks? It struck me as kindof odd.

Yup I have the same problem. BF4 either lags like crap (<15fps) and takes like 5 minutes to load the map or it just has a black screen with nothing happening.

It works fine without afterburner though.

Thanks for the advice. I need more opinion... anyone else?

Count me in. I got an Asus Strix 980 coming in as soon as amazon gets them in stock!

Hi m8, it's an issue with the overlays I think. I had it but now I use Precision so the issue isn't affecting me. The 64 bit AB binaries don't play well with Origin. I'll try and find out exactly what it was but it's a specific glitch that Origin doesn't like when AB is running.

First check by disabling 'Origin in Game' from the settings in Origin.

MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G here too.
Now I just need few more hours in a day to toy with it...

OK well I managed to get afterburner working with BF4. Basically BF4 will not start up or it will and lag to crap with afterburner running while BF4 is being opened. But if I have BF4 running then open afterburner it works just fine. I have no idea why. The OSD works just fine as well doing it this way.

I'm thinking it is something to do with 970 SLI setups as well because Locksmith doesn't have this problem. 2 way gtx 780s didn't have this problem.

------

I didn't really want to go SLI again but the last time SLI made so much sense to me was having 2 gtx460s. Now it seems for me 2 way 970s is the way.

You could also try to disable Origin In Game, fixed a lot of problems with game startup. Also no problems running Afterburner with BF4 i use it to cap the fps.

Yeah, i got Afterburner running now after disabling origin in game nice to have an OSD back!

Ack! The fannage is annoying my ears - at idle!
I'm so pampered by ten years of watercooled silenced computing...

Luckily, the mounting hole dimensions are the same as on my retired GTX 470s so muffling the bugger is only matter of poking it silly with a screw driver.

What, if any, kind of bottleneck should I expect with this 980 with my current CPU?
