Your two 4850's are a bit better than your 4890, one can only figure out that it'll be close.

Not really. Though I could score almost 24,000 on 3dMark06 with my Xfire HD4850 set up actual 3D "eye candy'' and game play wasn't as smooth as a single HD4890. Also I spent alot of time figuring out my HD4850s before I was able increase my 3dmark06 scores. I'm sure there is a sweet spot for the clocks of the HD4890 that open up bandwidth for high 3dmark06 scores. In general the Hd4890 is greater than HD4850 in Xfire IMO.

Trade you my 48050 1GB and $60 for the 4890. It has sinks glued on a couple places however, but they will come off.

Game play wasn't as smooth because of crossfire, sometimes there are stuttering issues more prevalent in certain games as I am to understand. Some games just flat out don't support it.

If it don't play in Xfire I don't play it. :) All the games that I play benefit from Xfire.

HD4770 is smoother than HD4850. Awesome card.

the only improvement youve noticed with a 4850 and 4890 is a higher 3dmark...

get rid of the 512mb 4850 and keep the 4890... as certain games especially newer ones will love the 1gb frame buffer...

overclock the 4890 and enjoy.......

Read above. I got rid of the HD4890. I have a Xfire MB and since the HD4890 cripples my HD4850 I got rid of it. I'd go Xfire with HD4850 or even better HD4770 before going with a single HD4890.
