Either you let a shop show you or you have to do your own research.

Every motherboard maker has a ram compatability list for each specific motherboard they make.

It is called a Quality Vendor List (QVL) which is found on the motherboard maker's wrbsite in the support section.

The QVL is a list of ram that has been tested and approved to work on a specific motherboard by the maker.

Keep in mind the QVL is a failsafe guide, there are ram that are not on the QVL that may work, but you would need to research it or let a more experienced person or shop help you on that.
