Hi all, first time poster and first time Radeon owner. Due to local mining crash, lots of people sells their Radeons en masse and dropped the price by a lot. I got mine a bit more expensive than ex mining ones due to the previous owner claiming that the GPU is for gaming only, so probably have more longevity to it.

Anyway, I jumped in and went straight away to flashing BIOS to hilarious result (it failed to boot). I've downloaded ATIflash 287, downloaded PowerColor Vega64 Red Devil BIOS since my PowerColor Vega 56 is Red Devil also. There's a subsystem ID mismatch warning using the windows application so I went straight to command prompt with the -f -p 0 command. It prompt me the flashing is successful but after rebooting my PC, the GPU won't boot.

I switched to the silent BIOS and my PC boots again... So my question is just how to reflash back the BIOS for my default setting. I've backed up the original default BIOS, but don't know how to restore it from my current silent BIOS mode.

Thanks a bunch, you saved my wallet from any further reckless act. Reflashed the BIOS back to its original state, quite convenient feature these BIOS switches.

There you go. I'm glad you're back in proper working order. :)

For what it's worth: recovering a totally bricked card is possible with a second GPU. It's just a fair bit more difficult.

What did you do exactly to recover your card from the ID mismatch?

Ive had some flash the v64 and couldnt recover, but you did, share the help for future users.

I just use command prompt running as administrator. Running through the windows app I always get the ID mismatch, even flashing back to the card original BIOS.

I put the original BIOS rom on the root folder of the ATIflash, and then run these "amdvbflash -f -p 0 [name of BIOS rom]". Make sure the BIOS rom name is 8 letters or less (I'm an old school DOS guy).

You have to force the flash with the -f tag. That typically lets it go through when you're in administrator mode.

8.3 format, was this using AMD/ATI flash 2.87?

The tool that is used for polaris runs in windows, i use the cmd prompt (DOS+ lol) to defrag HDDs lol

Yup. version 287, got it from TPU repository. Running on Windows 10 Pro 1903 build 18362.1. Was kind of scared with the note that it runs on Windows 10 1803, but, for science I guess.

Good to know, this should be stickied, I try my best to help a lot of users unbrick and stock restore their cards.

Hello Midiamp. Would you kindly share me the stock bios file for Silent, Standard and OC mode of Powercolor Red Devil Vega 56? It would be much appreciated since my GPU was a mining card once with the wrong bios.
