HIFIMAN brings its new Unveiled driver tech to the Arya line, with the new Arya Unveiled making a strong case to be the default $1000-2000 open-back headphones recommendation. It improves upon the predecessors with better quality vocals while maintaining excellent technicalities, and offers a neutral and fatigue-free tonality that will interest many audiophiles.

It still surprises me how much engineering goes into some of these cans. The magnet shape and placement for example, never in a million years I'd even think of that, and I have to admit it. Good stuff. Hopefully we'll see this kind of tech on more down to earth headphones for everyday use (at the <$300 range) someday.

We should see some improvements across the board, but right now HIFIMAN's solution seems to be putting previously released products under heavy discounts. The Edition XS is now firmly in the <$300 range and a really good buy thus.

@VSG
Not good enough. HE400SE Unveiled when.
Jokes aside, Sundara is also regularly on sale for 300 or below and I would consider it personally a more “balanced” choice for most and, frankly, as much headphone as 99% of people would ever reasonably need.

I sometimes wonder why the frequency curve is such bad with most headphones i saw so far.

from 20hz - 2khz the product shows a decent frequency curve

I expected to see a frequency curve starting from 5Hz to 70kHz in this special case. Regardless if it's auditable or not. The first page makes a bolt statement.

edit: First page
Frequency Response: 8 Hz–65 kHz

I didn't realize we had dogs participating in this forum too.

On a more serious note, not only can humans not consistently hear outside the 20 Hz to 20 kHz range, there are very few couplers which reliably measure the frequency response in this wider range you are asking for. It's just not viable enough for the companies to dedicate resources for this, although there are some which claim to go to 100 kHz- way out of my budget though.

A one year warranty on $1000+ headphones? That alone makes me wonder why they don't believe in the quality of their product. A 2 year warranty should be the standard. This is at least the case for other companies such as Sennheiser, at least here in Europe.

That's more an EU thing.

Afaik you get the 2 year warranty if you buy it here in EU. I own a HIFIMAN set and I’m pretty sure I have 2 years on it. But these won’t break anyway.

great review as usual btw, I was looking forward to this for weeks, these are the best reviews.

Im not totally sure, but as i remember in this price range they should give 3 year warranty in the Eu.

Thanks VSG, you are one of the better reviewers that I've come across lately.

The relaxed treble appeals to me because I find it so difficult to EQ that region. A little bit of massage for 5k frequency and you can get close to the top for a fraction of the price.

Agreed; I was actually surprised when I started seeing things like IEMs here. Really saves me time instead of looking at other sites or forums where I don’t know the reviewer or there style so I don’t really get what I’m reading.
