PowerColor's HD7990 will soon have some competition as HIS (Hightech Information System) is also going to release a graphics card powered by two AMD Tahiti chips. Dubbed Radeon HD 7970 X2 (apparently HIS doesn't want to use '7990'), this new dual-GPU card features a three-slot, dual-fan cooler, three 8-pin PCIe power connectors, a Lucidlogix PCIe switch (the PowerColor HD7990 uses a PLX bridge), a GPU clock of 1050 MHz, and 6 GB of GDDR5 memory set to 6000 MHz.

HIS' HD 7970 X2 also has dual-DVI and quad mini DisplayPort outputs. Pricing and availability are still unknown.

A dual slot '7990' - Its about time! Just in time for the new drivers I might add. If HIS can keep it under $800, it has a winner.

From what i've read, they're a beaut card, the devil is anyways, i agree with under 800$.

It's triple slot.

And also look at the first pic. :)

The devil looks "meaner". cant go wrong with black and red color scheme really, can you?

Triple slot! :banghead:

Definitely one of the better looking cards. I'm sure it's a performer as well but I'll continue to hold out as long as I can. For the games I play my fan modded 260GTX is still doing just fine.

Go with a hd 8 series then

7970 X2 Finally a company that realises it sounds so much better and explains the card better then the "7990" naming.

Lets just hope the drivers are alot better for this card now, from the Devil review the drivers sucked =/

it looks nice but honestly if it needs to be that big why not just sandwich the other side in a heatsink

Funny that they aren't calling it a 7990. I see confusion and threading saying "7970 X2 vs 7990" 7970 X2 seems more traditional.

If you are using multi monitor and don't want to cf, then a card like this is great id imagine, if it was only 2 slot, it wouldn't cool properly i'd take a guess? I cant see the problem with it being late, why does that matter really? rather late than never dont you think?
hey, im no fan boy, nearly went nv with last purchase,,,,but, something about amd cards i like, not rational i suppose, i set a limit of 300$ approx, and the 7950 with 3gb mem and 384 bus got me for specs, [and it looks cool of course hehehe] but since when is tech purchase "rational " usually???~lofl.

I still wanted to see someone pump out a 7870X2 :/

Amd drivers sucked for a reason....Windows8 .......All I have to say.

HIS makes a really great cards, yes the Devil is great too.Just hope when the 12.11 hit Wizz redoes a Win8 performance review with them.

Thats not what im getting at, regardless if its 7 or 8 the drivers sucked for these cards (7990) Only a hand full of games worked well with these cards.

HIS does indeed make great cards, got two of them now, but i don't think we will see any performance gain in 8 compared to 7 some how.

If you are using multi monitor and don't want to cf

Crossfire on a single PCB is still crossfire, and comes with any and all potential hassles that might entail.

????? Potential hassles?:slap:

????? Potential hassles?:slap:

Yes, hassles. Like when the second GPU is useless on some new games, like how more than 2 GPUs doesn't quite work right always, add in other driver snafus...

singlecard and dual, for the most part, is great, for sure, but it's not perfect. I don't see it as a big deal, you just need to be aware of it if you use Crossfire.
