Roguelike inspiration meets Real-Time Strategy in Homeworld 3's new co-op mode, War Games. Commanders will need to manage fleet strength across waves of enemies and claim powerful artifacts that augment ships with each completed objective. Based on the results, players will unlock additional artifacts and starting fleets that keep the challenge fresh. Launching February 2024.

War Games, the all-new three player co-op mode extends your game beyond the campaign. Fusing Homeworld's RTS gameplay with roguelike inspiration, commanders take on a randomized series of fleet combat challenges. Claim powerful Artifacts that augment your ships with more power, speed, and, of course, weapons. Based on your results, you'll unlock new fleets to shake up your strategy.

Tactical, beautiful, and wholly unique, the GOTY-winning sci-fi RTS returns with Homeworld 3. Assume control and battle through fleet combat in dazzling, fully 3D space while the award-winning story unfolds on a galactic scale.

oh, I like.

Also I could have sworn there were already 3 of these; 2 in space and 1 on a planet?

Deserts of Kharak are more considered a side to Homeworld instead of straight sequel.

Actually 3 in space! Don't forget about Homeworld: Cataclysm (nowadays available as "Homeworld: Emergence" on GOG due to Blizzard trademarking the Cataclysm name :kookoo:). Wonderful game, just as enjoyable as the original HW to me (and thus considerably more enjoyable than HW2). Think Moby Dick in space.

My all time RTS favorite franchise. Can't wait for this one.

this was my fav Homeworld

Reserving all other judgement...
Co-Op is a BIG selling point for me, and I lub me some Homeworld.

I wouldn't mind a bit more of Deserts of Kharak like gameplay (but with better AI). Maybe by the time they get to HW4 they could alternate missions between space and planets like some kind of Homeworld/Dune2000 like mashup surrounded by an epic storyline.
