to the op. you might have to recover your cd key from your old windows installation. thats why i recommenced installing the same version of windows 7 on the new partition. this is perfectly legal. you will need an app that can retrieve your key for your new installation. sense you will be installing on the same motherboard your key will still be 100% genuine for as many times as you install windows on THAT motherboard. thats not my own saying thats Microsoft witch allows you to legally install using that key as many number of times on that mobo.
i have done this on OEM PCS that dont have a key on the side. so i dont need to buy a key for the pc because it already has one you just need to access it
