The INNOCN 39G1R is a massive 39-inch gaming monitor, equipped with a curved 165 Hz VA panel. The undemanding 2560x1440 native resolution and sub-$500 price tag make it an interesting option for gamers looking for the largest screen they can get, for as little money as possible.

Thanks for doing a review on a monitor like this. There are several monitors at the $400-$500 price point that are 38-40" usually in 2560x1440 or 3440x1440 that don't get much attention. While understandable that as a productivity monitor they may not be ideal due to low pixel count, they are great for gaming. I have the MSI MAG 401QR (3440x1440 40") and it's been an awesome monitor, better than any other monitor I've had besides my LG C1 OLED which I used as a monitor for some time. I think that if you play mostly single player games, you should definitely give these monitors a look.

If your room is filled with a lot of natural light during the day, if you have large windows behind your back, or if you like to use artificial lighting at nighttime, you're going to have a bad time with the 39G1R you should do something about it
Bring on the glossy panels. It's about time.

Do you know what model and make of panel this is? (as in the panel itself)

Reminds me of 17" 1366x768 ultra-glossy laptops which were popular 15 years ago, a real pain to use.

Couldn't disagree more. I don't know where you glossy fans are gaming, but as someone that doesn't game in pitch black darkness, I prefer not to see myself and my entire surroundings in the reflection of my screen.

It's a shame the 0-to-anything response times are all so high.

I guess cheap VA requires low expectations and this thing holds no surprises, but average transitions from 0 are 30-ish milliseconds which just results in dark smears behind any black content at all.

@Inle - I think all of your 0-51 results are broken or the table data is shifted one column too far over; Only OLED can achieve 0ms and the ~25ms results for 0-102 seem more typical of a slow VA panel with inadequate overdrive.

Any VA panel with a <10ms response time for dark transitions is exceptional, definitely in the top 1% of all VA monitors.
I genuinely suspect the 0-51 response time for this is so slow that it's timing-out your measuring equipment, possibly over 50ms?

Could've been an interesting alternative for about 400 euros. 570 is just way too high.
Actually, at the time of writing it seems that someone is offering an LC-Power LC-M39-QHD-165-C for 440 euros.
They look near identical.

But the motion performance is just too bad for me to ever consider.

Yup, glossy FTW always. There will always be people however who, by necessity, have to put up with a dull matte finish (which obviously ruins the PQ of any monitor). Not so bad in the average bland & overlit office setting for example.
