A printed cardboard box is not going to conduct electricity.
Wrong. There you go again.

No, I am not talking about a box wrapped in colored foil. Not sure I ever saw one of those, except under tree with a bow on it.

I've done my homework and I don't care if you don't believe many inks used in printing contain metal or conductive properties. But don't go spewing comments you clearly know nothing about - that's irresponsible, and in this case, unprofessional.

About Vegetable Based Ink (my bold underline added),
Certain colors of ink, even vegetable-based ink, contain heavy-metal pigments like cadmium, barium, and copper... .
Or I suppose you are going to say copper, the 2nd most conductive metal behind silver, is not conductive?

Is lead a good conductor of electricity? Look at the posts of your car battery for the answer. Does printing ink contain lead?

Ever wonder how laser toner ink works? Gee, do you think it might have to do with the ink being positively "charged"???

So if you want to risk problems while bench testing your motherboard, go again and follow Papahyooie's advice and use your motherboard box. He's works on computers therefore he's a professional after all, and knows everything there is to know about electronics.

Look man... I'm done with you. You've insulted me several times now. I would tell you to grow up and stop acting like a child, but I can tell from the "proof" you gave of your "professionalism," that if you haven't already grown up, it isn't going to happen at your age.

I know that inks can contain conductive material. That doesn't mean that they have the structure to actually conduct electricity. That would require electricity to jump much further between molecules than say, a solid piece of copper. To make that jump, more voltage is required. By my estimation (and indeed, it is an estimation I admit) more voltage is required than what is going to be found in a motherboard. Human skin is very much more conductive than any ink, and yet you can run your hand over the back of a motherboard when it's on and in 99% of cases, it won't hurt it a bit. I agree totally that the possibility is there. I simply disagree on the probability. Stick a multimeter on any motherboard box you like, and show me that current levels found in a motherboard will flow, and I'll concede.

Regardless, I'm not going to get pulled into a flame war by a know-it-all who acts like a child and swings his e-peen around.

I am done with this conversation before it gets further out of hand, so that others can continue to discuss without the mods intervening and shutting this down. Good day.

dont feel like reading that wall of text, wouldnt using the stanoffs on the box/wood/table mean the mobo doesnt actually touch anything so it's fine?

there's zero reason to want to NOT use the standoffs since components of the mobo are heating up, you dont want to heat the box, right?

standoffs also let you check for warping, sagging, weight changes, etc.. although that's most applicable if you're going to use a horizontal case later

The board's not going to heat up just checking the bios. Which is all you should be checking. Then put it in a case. If you want to stress test then board then get a proper bench or a case.

I guess if you want to screw stand offs to it you can but what a pain
