What is this with Intel hate? They are customers just like Apple and AMD. Get over it. really disturbing to see, unrational minds speak.

Do not worry about competitors raising prices, when AMD have done exactly just that and showed the middle finger to the base that made them stay a float. There is a reason why they opted not to sell ryzen3 cpu from start and anything belowe 300 USD from start. But as always with AMD they get away with everything just like Steve from GN said.
Oh okay, as a business AMD should not exist to make a profit and justify all the work that they're doing. Instead they should do what some random troll on a web forum feels like they should do because your feelings are what make the world rotate on it's axis.

Same goes for Intel. See you have AMD, your reply to turmania makes sense now

The difference is that AMD does not go out of it's way to fuck consumers like Intel and Nvidia. Also, your response doesn't even make sense.

So that justifies Anti Intel vitriol on some forum? yeah right

The difference is that AMD does not go out of it's way to fuck consumers like Intel and Nvidia. You have proof of this or is it just an opinion? Both AMD and Intel are in it to make money, not make your life better.

Says the guy using an Intel/Nvidia rig who clearly fells emotionally vulnerable for realizing that he's supporting an anti-capitalist corporation that wants to monopolize the market and continue to drive up prices. AMD is at the mercy of the markets because they aren't sitting on massive piles of cash. They don't have "mindshare" of people who can't use their brains to realize that treating technology corporations like sports teams (which sports teams in and of themselves are a stupid distraction in which no matter how many events occur they have zero meaningful impact on the world) only worsens the markets.

The difference between AMD and Intel/Nvidia is that AMD hasn't dumped billions of dollars a quarter in to Dell alone to prevent Intel from having market share. I already pointed out that Intel was doing that and with many other computer manufacturers. What goons like you fail to realize is that as there are fewer and fewer corporations like TSMC to produce the chips things are going to get increasingly expensive (aside from people not comprehending that things aren't getting more expensive, the fake fiat currency people call money is losing it's already almost nonexistent value). But yeah, please continue on your holy campaign of inferring that attacking Intel and/or Nvidia automatically makes me or anyone else blindly AMD because clearly people like you actually think everyone else is dumb enough to fall for a strawman argument.

Wow you do have your panties in a bunch don't you. only goons name call, guess which you are?

So i fells emotionally vulnerable do i? i'm not the one with my panties in a bunch getting wound up at some random person on a forum. Maybe you should buy shares in AMD to help them out as it clearly bothers you so much. congrats anyway, you have brightened my day with your rant.

I can see Intel selling of their FAB business if the high-end move to TSMC works out.

Intel has too much invested in chips for the auto, heavy equipment, US defense and machinery industry for that too happen imo.

No chance of them selling off. Their fabs are doing well for themselves. It would be like cutting off one of your legs.

Intel is still one of the 3 most advanced semiconductor manufacturers on the planet, next to TSMC and Samsung. Manufacturing their own chips has been plenty beneficial for them. Intel is pretty clear about their goals when it comes to this - they are planning to get back to parity within 3-5 years and they should be able to achieve that goal.

This is also one of the main reasons they need to pay through the nose for TSMC wafers - TSMC cannot be sure exactly how long Intel continues to be their customer or with how large quantities.

Maybe Intel won't sell of it's fabs, but I can see them going in with TSMC for the cutting edge stuff. This move to TSMC has not been done lightly at Intel, it's an admission that they cannot keep up at the leading edge. There must be more to this than simply asking TSMC to fab their best products for a little while.

The bigger slice of pie Intel purchases from TSMC means less pie for AMD.

Yes, that could well be Intel's motivation.

TSMC N3 volume production is slated to start H2 2022, Intel's own roadmap says 3 is slated to be in volume production starting H2 2023.

And do you think Intel can or will catch up? Mind you, I think China might put a spanner of sorts into the machine soon.

We do not know. Intel is clearly planning to and TSMC takes that into account in how they do business with Intel.

But it was about Intel's motivation - Intel's comparable node will be at least a year later than TSMC's. That should be a pretty clear motive.

I'm just waiting for Intel to buyout the whole company of TSMC so they can either stop AMD from using it or charge so much they can't afford it ! I think bleeding them of all their money is the most pure Intel way !
Now that's how Intel operates! :)

More likely Tsmc buys Intel if you look at market cap.
Neither will happen thankfully.

China are just sitting back eying off Russia war in the Ukraine and are busy planning their take over of Taiwan ! Unfortunately ! :(
