I'm not a troll for telling the facts about limiting the power usage on the Intel 14th Gen CPUs to the same power usage as AMDs counter part in gaming when the facts shows that you will lose a crap ton of gaming performance by doing so, specially with the 14900K.

This chart proves it.

Now, you will most likely not lose as much performance as the 14900K here by using a 14600K doing the same under gaming, but you will still lose quite a lot of performance by doing the same (maybe 40-50%) by limiting the 14600K to the same power usage that is 65w TDP that is the same as the 7700 from AMD has. The 7700 have the same performance as the 7950X3D in gaming as proven by 'TechPowerUp' from the other 2 pictures I posted earlier. So you can just replace the 7950X3D performance in the chart over in the picture with the 7700 as they are the same in gaming performance.

So the 14600K capped to 65w TDP will still lose badly to the 7700 at 65w TDP, even though the performance loss by doing so wont be as insane at 80-85% loss here as the 14900K capped to 80w TDP (same as 7800X3D) does.

When we are talking about using a CPU in a Mini-ITX case, going from 85w PPT (default) on the 7700 CPU have to even 120-130w MTP that is still 50 watt less to what the Intel Core i5-14600K have in MTP (default) is enough to mess up a Mini-ITX computer badly and kill it's lifespan drasticly, because of heat. Specially if you use programs that uses the CPU a lot.

Yeah sure, the Intel CPU can most likely handle 90-95 degree celcius no problem, but can the other components inside the Mini-ITX case handle that heat from the CPU in the longer run?

Hell no. Heat is the components worst enemy.

Ηow much performance will i lose by limiting the CPU to 88w on the following video?

All the sources show that your 7700 gets smacked by the 14600k in every single workload.
Do you know the differences from games to benchmarking / CPU intensive programs?

In games, the facts are very clear on who's winning at the same amount of power usage.

The 14600k

I mean you have a 3060ti, even at 35w a 14600k will max it out , lol.
Yeah, a 3060Ti is good for running that in a Mini-ITX case. I bought it 2-3 months before the 4060Ti came out.

And why would anyone with a Mini-ITX case / computer care AT ALL that the 14600K is somewhat better / faster in some CPU intensive programs over the 7700 when the power usage is all from 30 to 85% higher for the 14600K over the 7700 here in many tasks?

Even having a small 30% more power draw over the 7700 CPU will create a lot more heat. That is VERY bad and is something everyone with a Mini-ITX case will avoid at all costs.

He was talking about cb23, not gaming.

I think the 14th gen is just a crazy/lazy release.

The 14600k beeing a good overclocker is insane as well: in the review of tpu the 13600k did 5,6ghz and 4,4 e-cores. The 14600k did 5,7ghz and 4,5ghz e-cores..... Not even newsworthy, let alone a reason to release a new gen.

But it's not drawing more power. You set both to same power and they both draw the same power, but the 14600k is faster. And since it's faster, it will finish in less time therefore it will create less heat.

Again, if I set both CPUs to the same power (65w TDP in this case), the 14600K will get crushed by the 7700 in games. And why would I do that?

And secondly, why would I buy a 14600K when that CPU is on a dying and outdated socket?

Yes, incase you haven't figured it out yet, there is more to a CPU than just raw performance alone.

What do you mean dying socket? Will your mobo die? What are you talking about?

And nobody asked you to buy anything. I'm saying that you are wrong, the 14600k is faster and more efficient than the 7700 on every task. You can buy whatever you want, nobody cares.

Dying socket means a socket that will be replaced soon. The 14th Gen Intel CPUs are the last CPUs on the LGA 1700 socket, which means the socket is outdated and not a good buy today. The AM5 socket will live for another 5 years at least. Aka future proofed.

And again, the proof I posted earlier says you are lying flat out that the 14600K is better in every tasks (as gaming goes under every tasks as well) over the 7700 at the same power output as the 7700 when that is wrong. Did you see the performance loss on the 14900K (as an example) under gaming when limiting the 14900K to the same 80w TDP the 7800X3D have?

And what makes you think that there wont be a similar effect (maybe not as insane as the 14900K) by doing the same with the 14600K and 14700K CPUs by limiting them to the same power output as the 7700 and 7900?

Reading is obviously hard for you.

Here you have the proof AGAIN.

der8auer EN - Just a Waste of Time - Raptor Lake R̶e̶f̶r̶e̶s̶h̶ Renamed [RjnMpv6WKhY - 1337x75...png

As I also have shown earlier, the 7700 at default settings perform the same as the 7950X3D in games. So when the 14900K at 80w TDP loses badly to the 7950X3D here, what makes you think the 14600K at 65w TDP will beat that?

The 'FPS per watt' you get on AMD CPUs is lightyears ahead of Intel here.

Dying socket means a socket that will be replaced / removed soon. The 14th Gen Intel CPUs are the last CPUs on the LGA 1700 socket. The AM5 socket will live for another 5 years at least.
And why do you care if the socket gets replaced? You are worried someone will walk into your house and grab it? :banghead:
And what makes you think that there wont be a similar effect by doing the same with the 14600K and 14700K CPUs towards the 7700 and 7900?
The 14600k doesn't even draw 100w in most games, so limitiing it will have no difference. The average power draw in games in 93.5w, so limiting it to 88w will lose you 1% performance. That's with a 4090 at 1080p. You have a 3060ti. The cpu won't even draw more than 50w in games with the card you have.

Anyways, I have a 12900k on a mini ITX, the 7700 is just too slow for my work. Both limited at 100w (my tower can't cool more than that) the 12900k is much faster so, why would I get a 7700? It creates way more heat since tasks take much longer to finish.

Because I want to be able to change out my AMD CPU to a new CPU in 3-4 years without having to change out the motherboard as well.
The 14600k doesn't even draw 100w in most games, so limitiing it will have no difference. The average power draw in games in 93.5w, so limiting it to 88w will lose you 1% performance. Again, the performance loss on the 14600K wont be as massive as it is on the 14900K by capping it's power usage as I have said several times by now. The thing here that you simply can't figure out is that no matter how little watt you think the 14600K uses in games, even capped at 65w TDP, it will still not beat the 14900K here, even when it's limited to 80w TDP.

And when the 7700 already have the same performance as the 7950X3D as the pictures I posted from from TechPowerUp shows, the 14600K capped at 65w TDP will perform worser in gaming than the 14900K at 80w TDP is doing.

How freaking hard is that to understand?
Anyways, I have a 12900k on a mini ITX, the 7700 is just too slow for my work. Both limited at 100w (my tower can't cool more than that) the 12900k is much faster so, why would I get a 7700? It creates way more heat since tasks take much longer to finish.
Just for your information. The 7700 is using 65w TDP and 85-88w PPT (max power usage). So you are lying if you say you are 'LIMITING' the 7700 to 100w. That's called overclocking in that case. My 7700 is overclocked to 5.5 Ghz 100% stable and uses 85w PPT capped at 80 degree celcius max.

Lastly, i'm pretty sure you don't sit all day long gaming on your work computer and don't do your job. Like I have said several times also, the 14600K, or 12900K in your case here will be faster / better in some workloads (for work in your case). That still doesn't change the fact that the 14600K at 65w TDP gets demolished / crushed by the 7700 at 65w TDP in gaming.

Because I want to be able to change out my AMD CPU to a new CPU in 3-4 years without having to change out the motherboard as well.

Your whole premise is just flawed. The 14600k consumes 93w on average in the games TPU tested. So if you limit it to 88w it will still smack the crap out of your 7700. Simple as that. Your 7700 get demolished in both games and applications, it takes longer to complete tasks and creates more heat while doing so. Stop the misinformation, you bought a mediocre CPU, get over it.

Just for your information, according to TPUP reviews, your 7700 consumes more power while being as fast on games as 12600k. But somehow you think it is faster than a 14600k. LOL, delusional

The 14600k on average consumes 76w, below the 88w ppt limit your mediocre 7700 has.

Explain that. That's enough power draw over the 7700 to not use that in a Mini-ITX case.

Not only that, but the 14900K at 80w TDP will still perform better than the 14600K at 65w TDP in gaming. Thus the 7700 (same as the 7950X3D in gaming performance) at default power usage will still perform much better than the 14600K at 65w TDP. The reason is that the 7700 at 65w TDP performs the same as the 7950X3D at 80w TDP in gaming already crushes the 14900K at 80w TDP in gaming as you can see here.

The 7700 at default speeds and power usage perform the same at the 7950X3D here. So how can you explain that the 14600K at 65w TDP will perform better than the 14900K at 80w TDP?

If it doesn't do that, then how do you think the 14600K will perform better than the 7700 when the chart shows that the 14600K wont even be remotely close?

There is nothing to explain, you are showing graphs of different CPUs'. According to TPUP your 7700 draws more power for similar performance as the 12600k. The 14600k just slaughters it. I don't know who told you that your mediocre 7700 is as fast as the 7950x 3d in games but it's not, lol. Move on now

Aren't we talking about the Ryzen 7 7700 vs the Core i5-14600K here?

If yes, then the graph I did show are all valid.

Not only that, but what you are showing shows that the 7700 uses 58w while the 14600K uses 76w in gaming. That's a 32% increase in power usage. Even if you limit the 14600K to 65w TDP, it's still 13% more power usage over the 7700. Not much for those with a mountain sized computer case, but not that good for those who use Mini-ITX cases. Every single watt that can be saved on a Mini-ITX computer is good as it will extend the lifespan on the computer overall. Yes, that's the thing with Mini-ITX computers.

Also, the 14600K will never perform better in games over the 14900K.

Your 7700 is a 12600k competitor. Stop comparing it to the much faster 14600k.

Your 7700 is a 12600k competitor. Stop comparing it to the much faster 14600k.
Dude, there is maybe a 4-5% improvements in performance from the 12600K to the 14600K in gaming. So it's so small that I wouldn't even call that a noticable difference in general.

Want to see the proof that shows that you are completely clueless?

And here is even a picture that shows it.

YEEEEEEY, going from 116 FPS on the 12600K to the whole 122 FPS on the 14600K in a game. Revolutionary. HUGE leap in CPUs technological improvements.....................

So, I can for sure compare the 7700 to the 14600K as it's pretty similar in gaming performance to the 12600K.

You have no clue what you are talking about. The test you posted is with same clockspeeds and ring and with ecores disabled. The 14600k does not have the same clockspeeds and ring with the 12600k. There is a huge difference in gaming performance between the 2. Stop being dumb.

I have shown you charts earlier that shows that the 7700 / 7950X3D (same gaming performance on both) at their default power usages already crushes the 14900K capped at 80w TDP by a landslide. And because a 14600K at 65w TDP will never ever beat a 14900K capped at 80w TDP, then you don't have to be a genious to figure out the rest.

The 7700 has the same gaming performance as the 12600k while it consumes more power. The 14600k beats both handily. Move on, this is just purely trolling now.
