Intel don't ship them any more, they are still some Q6600 remaining in stock via various online retailers, in some places you could get it for as cheap as £110 retail boxed.

But dude.. why waste your money on a 775? Spend a little more and get i7 or save the money.

Because it is a sugnificant amount more to go i7. I could go with a Q9650/X3370 for $300, giong Core i7 would be at least double that, plus I can sell my old 775 processor for $100.

Exactly, unless you require i7 for video encoding and other specialist applications (the C2D quads ain't sluggish either), i7 gives you little to zero gains in games, the money is better spent on a faster video card and more ram.

As said, gaming wise i7 is a waste, can get a cheaper Core 2 Quad and will notice not much of a difference. For video encoding and lots of photoshopping, i would say to go i7 if you have the cash, thats where i7 really proves itself over the Core 2's.

The code is also little ugly in the forums, but looks OK on the front page.

figures...how about a price reduction on the e8600? seems every other processor in the c2d lineup has been reduced right to the e8500 except for it...now even the quads up to q9650 have been cut, significantly at that! I'd consider the q9650 but for gaming the duos overclock better and I'll bet my 680i won't overclock it worth crap so seems better to stick with the e8400 I have for now.

Actually, your 680i won't even support a Q9650. Also, none of the e8000 series seem to be getting a price cut.

Sell the 680i board (I did with my old 650i pile of turd), use the money to buy a good midrange priced P35/P45 board instead, I sold my old board that I had for almost 2 years for stupid money on ebay that funded 50% of my new P45 board!

I'd think about it but sli as an option is always nice...besides I have had rather good luck with this board and just got it recently, so I only paid 90 bucks for it which is nothing and I can get fsb's up to 530 stable on it which with stock cooling ain't bad for any board I'd think. And p45 from everything I've seen aren't going to do much better than that....

The 680i is definitely a great board for overclocking Dual-Cores, just don't expect much if you put a Quad in there. The 680i's are known to struggle to get past 300FSB on Quads, and of course they don't support the 45nm quads at all.
