So you want covid lockdowns gas prices without the lockdowns? That's a nice pipe dream.
What is wrong in going back to simpler times? Or do you think everything is better now just because more money==more prosperity? Money chasing more money, chasing returns that's chasing even more money that's what has led to the current situation across the world. Although the US has been doing this for close to 3 decades now since at least Clinton. But they're not the only culprits, see Yen carry trade as among the worst examples of it :shadedshu:

no need to go back to "simpler times" (dont care for unpowered steering/brakes/doors/seats/windows/mirrors/trunk/gas doors ), az long as humans would drop the greedy part.
capitalism/socalism work, until ppl start to fill their pockets on the back of others.
i dont care if corp make money, but at least pay your part (taxes/wages/benefits etc), and counties like denmark (high taxes) show US companies like McD & co still make money when paying 20$/h plus benefits to flip burgers, while telling the US population they cant pay more than 8$/h..

How much sales and marketing does it take to lie about the product and cry about the engineering? It's not like Intel has to do much more than make the chips. They sell themselves.

I think at the end, they will sell their foundry business like AMD did
It’s more likely they break into two companies like how HP became HPE and HPC. That’s a bit different in what you suggest in that executives are split between the two and no selling is involved.

My theory is that Nvidia will buy them. I give it less than 5 years.

This is quite fascinating because their revenue figures are still huge, twice as much as Nvidia or AMD for last year, this means all that money that their getting their hands on is grossly mismanaged.
This is a common misunderstanding. If I make a trillion dollars but it cost me a trillion to make it that’s worse than if I make a million dollars but it only cost me only $100k to make it.

Money that goes in one door and right out the other is a failing company.

The Govt should ask them back for the Money they gave them. This Company is like Chelsea FC in so many ways.
And Intel should cap all execs total/complete yearly remuneration at $1mill/yr.

Really, it's probably all just overshoot. I can't see them being in the red after a full year. More profits = more bonuses for those at the top.

Yeap, INTC has about twice the revenue cost that Nvidia has meaning Nvidia has over double the gross profits.

Hopefully they won’t cancel IEM CS tournaments (it’s part of their marketing), that’s the only thing I like from Intel right now and they have a long tradition.

Well when AMD is making Awesome Desktop Processors and Awesome Server Processors with none of this E core BS. What you think would happen.
Seriously Intel need to get back to it's roots. Also their naming conventions are Horrible Core 9 Ultra 285K Like what's that suppose to mean. How about Intel Cougar 9285K or something cool.
They need to drop this Core crap move too some cool name or something get better marketings or make some pure Desktop CPU's otherwise I see not a bright future for Intel.

they paid alot for that naming - lots of very highly paid people sat in a room and came up with that....

I think this is a positive change for them.

“The impact will also be felt in Intel's market development fund (MDF), a crucial tool for supporting OEMs and other partners through events, training, and more. An ex-Intel executive warned that the MDF had become vital as the company's product leadership waned, allowing it to maintain valuable relationships with partners.”

Look, I understand this is a nature of business, but I just love how this reads like poetry, but describes, essentially, just good old fashioned bribes. Amusing, is all, don’t really have anything else to comment on here. And yes, I understand that this isn’t pure bribery… hopefully? Were those “incentives” people like to accuse Intel of providing to OEMs included under MDF?
It's not a bribe if you and your family are invited to an all inclusive resort for a week, or a private yacht, or a club. Just ask any Supreme Court justices.

Don't they have foundries like everywhere?
Not just everywhere but their CEO goes around begging for subsidies and a threat of leaving if handouts arent given.

I think at the end, they will sell their foundry business like AMD did
They already split their company back in Feb.

@phanbuey
after +40y working for a lot of different businesses in all kind of areas, i know new naming for anything means an arm chair director had to justify his/her position.
exceptions prove the rule..

There is only one Intel. That split announcement was a scam as no one in their right mind would send Intel their chip fab business so they pretended to split. Everyone knows they didn’t.

It’s like if parents said moving siblings to separate bedrooms makes two separate families. It doesn’t.

Believe me when Intel does actually split off its fabs it will be BIG news.

There was this article on Digitimes as well, so I guess now Intel is forced to be serious about splitting their business.
