Is render test not enough today?

When I trigger a benchmark in 3DMark or Heaven, it changes to PCIe x16 4.0, but the render test is only going from x16 1.1 up to x16 2.0 from idle.

It is enough. This just shows your card is running at 16x PCIe 2.0

I'm not sure what´s the point with that render test then, I thought the idea was to put the card in the highest power state to verify the max PCIe speeds the card is able to work.
When using Heaven benchmark I'm able to reach max PCIe speed.
Anyway, I will leave this here and look into other tools to verify max PCIe speeds.

Have a good day.

That's a bit odd. That tests has always been accurate every time I used it.

You might want a separate thread?

Strange. Changes with power management code come to mind. I think the render test had more or less looked the same since it existed, maybe 10 years ago now?

No i looked at the driver version you have... perhaps try with 537.58.

Correct. First time I hear about it not going to max PCIe though.

The render test is pretty light indeed by today's standards and as part of a big UI rewrite I will look into more demanding workloads

Yeah, maybe it's a thing with the last Nvidia driver, I'm not sure as I haven't tested with an older driver. I don't remember seeing this behavior with my old B550 mobo, but I still believe the render test load is too light for today standards, my GPU doesn't even ramp up the fans.

Thank you for looking into this in a future GPU-Z release.
