I'd love to have answered this with my own research but whenever I Google it, it comes up with "usb WiFi vs pci WiFi" . What I'm asking is, is there a Pci card with both WiFi and Usb (3.0 Preferably) or why isn't it possible. As my motherboard has only 1 PCI slot left and I don't really want to change it any time soon.

I already have a wifi dongle and it is kind of annoying, I'm looking into buying a pci usb card and would love to have both usb and wifi on the same card as it is a mini itx build and is meant to be portable.

I realise there are small dongles... thank you for pointing it out, I want to know if there is or isn't an internal card that can do both. I'm not really asking for a solution for my problem. Rather an answer to the original question.

I can't in many years of involvement in computer hardware ever recall seeing such a device. That certainly doesn't mean it doesn't exist but Ill hazard a guess and say it would be either very hard to find or nonexistent.

I don't know if you're limited on your PCI slots but you have several options to tackle this issue.

The most direct would be buying PCI wireless card as well as a PCI USB port card

Or buying a PCI wireless adapter and a 5.25 inch USB bay adapter. Which would install in the front of your PC like a DVD drive.

If you are indeed short on PCI lanes remember that these cards tend to only use X4 slots so you only need the little one and a half inch PCI slots and not the full ones. Conversely, you can also install the X4 PCI plugs into either an X84X 16 available slot it doesn't matter that the plug is only a couple inches in the slot is three or four it'll just utilize what it needs

Personally I recommend the 5.25 inch bay for USB it still installs in the PCI Lane it just internally routes to the front PC case I don't like the rear ones cause they're a pain in the ass to access

It would seem sensible as wifi can only reach no more than a 1/5 of usb 3 standards, I'll do some more searching, thanks :D

Remember that if you went with a 5.25 inch USB bay it'll still install in the PCI lane but It'llroute internally through your case and run out the front which is far easier than reaching around to the back of a PC to get to USB plugs. Good luck

There are 5.25 inch bays that use PCI interface?! My MB as it is quite a basic one doesn't have any 3.0 headers and only 1 2.0 header, if there was a pci extension that could route to the front of my case that'd be incredible.

Some of them use the motherboards USB 3.0 header but you can also find them with a PCI riser card that installs into your x4r PCi lane

It would be either one like the picture below but there are also ones that have the PCI card directly mounted to the USB hub via a cable
Notice how the riser card provides the USB 3.0 plug that I'm assuming your motherboard lacks by default

huh, didn't know that kind of thing existed, I'll still try and find a combo card but if I could get a pci card with internal headers I could connect the three 3.0 ports I have that can't currently be connected

heres another option that isnt Exactly what you wanted, but it is a step in the rightdirection...*also note* some of the adapters also have a single USB3 plug build on the PCI board, and You could just plug a usb wifi adapter directly into it, and the Dongle would in effect be internal....worth a shot , o_O
keep in mind these options require a Sata power plug in many cases, or a Molex type, be certain your able to power these option if you decide they are worthy

@Ozoingo2
This is the closest thing i could find that fit your request, but i know its not WifI, but it is ethernet , ;)

I already have a Deepcool rock master fan controller installed with 2 usb passthroughs that could attach. Thank you for your help :D
(P.S. if you could give me a model number on the picture in the quote that would be greatly appreciated)

Which of the pictures do you need a model number for? I'll just link you to the product itself but I I've posted three pictures so just let me know which one and I will link it for you also now you're going to have a big old antenna that's way more obtrusive in a little USB dongle :)

I'd like the model number for this one, seems like it fits my use case the best and maybe I can put the dongle in internally. Only problem is I'm in Australia so it will be challenging to find a place to ship here :p thanks

Those are NOT PCI cards!!!!!

You need to make sure of what you need. There is a huge difference between PCI and PCIe (PCI Express) despite their similar names. PCI is an ancient technology and protocol yet many newer motherboards still support the PCI interface.

PCIe replaced AGP as the primary graphics interface then went on to replace most (but not all) PCI slots.

I suspect PCIe is what you really want but since you never specified which motherboard you have (we cannot assume it is the one in your System Specs since many users have more than one computer), this needs to be verified before spending your money.

The one in my system specs is correct as I am talking about my main system. Ok sorry, by my terminology I mean PCI = PCIe, PCIe = PCIex16 . I know I'm not amazing at this :p. sorry for any confusion with that :D

Don't worry about it just, make sure that you double check everything when you make the order so you don't buy something that won't be compatible with your PC.I knew what you were referring to

Anyway good luck with your upgrade I'm off to get my face cut open by a surgeon  :(, i'm having a handsomeness reduction operation ;)

I mean PCI = PCIe, PCIe = PCIex16 . I know I'm not amazing at this :p. sorry for any confusion with that :D
Except PCI does not equal PCIe but I am glad you understand that. Assuming can get us into trouble so I avoid that as much as possible. I suspected you really meant PCIe; I just wanted to make sure you were not confused.

Also, you said you only have one PCI [PCIe] slot left. Note it probably is not a PCIe x16. It more likely is a PCIe x1 as PCIe x16 is in the first (top) 1 slot on your board - typically used for graphics cards. The x16 means there are 16 lanes for data. x1 means one lane.

Your motherboard supports the PCIe 2.0 standard. The 2.0 standard supports (in theory) 500MB/s per lane. That's megabytes per second. So even if you only have a x1 PCIe slot left, it will be plenty fast to support your wifi connection as the maximum wifi bandwidth is 500Mb/s (megabits) with 802.11ac.

Quick Question to do with this, My 750ti covers the second slot down so I only have the bottom two available, which are Pci, not PCIe. Will this card still work on a regular PCI slot?
