"Isn't PC Gaming Dead?" Asks Roccat

Pc gamming isn’t dead yet.
Although saying this pc gaming is not far from dying.
When I first starting gaming, it was on a NES at computers where at least $3000K. This was back in the early 90’s. I got a sega mega drive great console. Many memories. It wasn’t until I got a PC and started modding Quake 1 I realized PC gaming was the way of the future.
From there I went to many lan parties made mods even encoded MP3’s It use to take about 4 hours to convert a CD in to MP3’s. I use to dream of the day I would be able to play online. This day has come and gone.
More and more games are released with retard DLC or no dedicated servers or LAN modes. RTS use to be the only genre of games that consoles couldn’t compete with. But sadly RTS is a dying genre.

Can someone name a top selling RTS game that was made after 2007 with Lan support?
Or an FPS?
Over the years there have been many epic PC titles. One of my favorite developers Bullfrog where bought out by EA then rapped and hidden away. Although its good EA haven’t remade any of their games and killed them like they did to Westwood.

ID software are dead, there last release was crap. Pretty much everything after doom 3 has sucked, it may look good but it hasn’t had any real multilayer or been ground breaking.
Unreal tournament was an epic game sadly the 3rd game wasn’t as much fun as the first.
Games use to be based around LAN and multiplayer support. Now they are only based around multilayer. There are some good single player games. But most game companies just try and flog as many games as they can.
MODs, look at some of the top selling PC games counterstrike day of defeat they were once mods. Pretty much most of what would have been a free mod is now passed off for a game. The modding scene has been dying. Who to blame? EA? Blizzard? Pirates ? DLC? Or this is the way gaming has gone?

Most games now days a rehashes of old games. Although I don't mind spending some coin if its done right. When its done horribly wrong eg flatout 3 it makes you angry.
Is it just me or are games less inventive and less fun? Is there more shovel ware out there?

If they're serious (kind of thinking they're not), then obviously they haven't done their research; which I kind of doubt. But if they haven't here's a chart with projected sales figures of games; console vs pc.

All trends are showing that PC gaming is very much so on the rise and will soon surpass consoles in popularity. I suppose we can thank Steam for revitalizing the PC gaming market. I believe that they have made PC gaming a lot more accessible to a lot more people and even the Indie developer. Hat's off to you steam.

At any rate, I think it's just an advertising ploy to get people talking about them and get their name out to more people.
This certifies my earlier post and the reason why both MS and Sony are planning new consoles for the 2014 to 2015 time frame, because PC gaming was going to overtake consoles by that time.

Anyhow just look at the chart, both PC and consoles are still making more than $15+ billion. This fact alone makes anybody look like a fool when they think PC gaming is dying. :slap:

It's too bad that the new PS3 & 720 are going to already be over 2 years old vs. The PC on launch... :D

Which is why I called Roccat a troll. Cause only trolls or ignorant people consider such a statement.

Yes. This is Roccat using a hot topic as an advertisement for themselves. Smart, I suppose.

IMHO That's what is so great about PC platform as well, you have the option to upgrade it as technology advance's. Most time's if you have a decent build you can greatly extend it's "lifespan" by simply upgrading the GFX card :) Consoles can not be user upgraded, save for maybe adding a larger HDD but that doesn't really net you any performance increase just capacity.

And that graphics card will cost 200 - 300.00, the same price as an entire console.

So it's not a fair comparison...

You'll never be able to properly play Mechwarrior on a low end console with that tiny little controller. Long live PC gaming.
But nah, so long as there are free to play games on PC, and no such games on console, there will be PC gaming, if for the simple fact that parents can give their kids an older computer, and let them play for hours on end without having to supervize them (or so they think) and that they don't have to put up with paying $100 or so on games each month. And then the kid spends his/her allowence on the game cards for whatever free game they have, while still spending less each month than on new games.

Tis the way it seems to work. Now if only people would stop creating hacking tools to wreck F2P online games things would be great and Combat Arms would be quite a bit better of a game.

Let's face it. PC gaming is dead. Now excuse me while I go play my PC games on a 30" monitor @ 2560x1600 set on ultra.

And what games are you playing? There are barely any decent titles left.

There are tons of great titles.

This is an awesome PR stunt. Roccat really nailed this one. Look at all the people talking about them. Kudos Roccat.

There is a services on the PC. Services like Steam, GoG and a million other indie projects. You might want to check it out as the library of games on Steam alone might be bigger then any of the leading consoles. Also the games are vastly cheaper which balance out the cost of the hardware very nicely.

yeah and Steam loses it's charm once you own everything. i'm at the point where Valve can no longer offer me any deals haha

I doubt you own everything on Steam. Nevermind GoG or D2D and Origin.

everything i'm interested in. i'm a collector I blow all my money on games ;)

Be careful TMM. Is she into OHVs?

@BB : Yeah, I sometimes can't find anything of real interest on Stem either. That's when I go back and play some of the classics until something new comes along. Are you into RPGs? LoG is stupid fun. :)

I picked up Legend of Grimrock this morning. I haven't installed it yet.

I think you'll like it. Check out the thread in the games section on it and let us know what you think.
