Jacob Freeman is a name synonymous with "EVGA GeForce" for as long as we've known the brand. We are excited to report that he is now employed directly by NVIDIA as GeForce Evangelist, a position that has roles from both the technical marketing and product marketing departments, for NVIDIA's all-important gaming graphics product division.

Jacob writes in a Twitter post announcing his big life update: "This passion for gaming and hardware eventually turned into a career spanning 20+ years, and today I am happy to announce that I have joined NVIDIA as a GeForce Evangelist. In this role I will continue to work with the PC gaming community, press and influencers on new programs and features in the GeForce ecosystem. Given my history and passion for PC gaming and hardware, I cannot think of a better role for myself and I am very excited to be a part of the NVIDIA GeForce team!"

EVGA was one of the most respected NVIDIA add-in card (AIC) partners, commanding the highest market share in the North American market. The company's sudden and unexpected decision to withdraw from the graphics card business in late-2022, and just ahead of the GeForce 40-series "Ada" launch left DIY PC industry poorer, since we lost a brand that set product design and quality standards, in which we're sure Jacob played a major role. As GeForce Evangelist, Jacob Freeman will be instrumental in communicating the latest in the world of GeForce not just with gamers, but also content creators, and industry partners. We at TechPowerUp wish Jacob all the very best in his new role, and we can't wait to work with him.

I was like is it April fools day today? But I wish Mr Freeman a good ride with Nvidia and it's sad to see EVGA stop but I can understand why,

Nice, back in 2006 I had 4 EVGA 7800GT that kept burning up one after the other (faulty memory VRM controller) and when I emailed EVGA, Jacob was the one who responded, very pleasant individual.

Now he finds good home in Nvidia headquarter :D

Very unfortunate, personally I see mr Freeman as a bit of a piece of shit, the self proclaimed role of "Evangelist" seems very fitting though considering the scams they run on those who dont know any better.

He's always seemed like a pretty cool dude. Regardless of where I'm glad he's found employment post evga dying on their own sword over selling gpus.

I kinda wish he would have joined amd would have been nice to have someone over there with half a brain in the gpu division maybe the 7900XT would have been named/priced accurately.

I have to agree, he is such a disappointment.

It's a job. Get real. If anything he can improve things for Nvidia PR.

Seems like he's not that freeman anymore

He did a pretty good job back when he was in EVGA. Hopefully the same can happen at Nvidia.

Long time Nvidia customer here and most of the times from EVGA, but wth is a GeForce Evangelist? Is he going from door to door asking people "are you ready to welcome GeForce into your heart?"?
What exactly will he be doing and why do we need it?

Evangelism and tech can go take a dump. It's just another world for PR shill. No better than AMD's team red sort of commune.

Freeman had little reason to remain with EVGA and EVGA had little reason to continue his employment so Freeman probably had to jump ship.

Is there a typo in the last sentence of the article, or a pun i don't understand ?
"can't want" or "can't wait"?

Out of all the "corporate" behavior Nvidia has done...for some reason this one tastes exceptionally terrible.....and the use of the term "Evangelist" makes a plethora of statements with just a single word....does this mean that he will guide and lead the unrelenting hive-mind of Nvidia's fanboy army like Christian Missionaries from the first few centuries AD, the Inquisition, or the Arab Conquests of the 7th century to root out anyone committing heresy and relentlessly drive the heathen before them while giving no quarter....? (right now I'm just recalling and imagining the comments section on EVERY WCCFTech), haha....the exaggeration is just a joke, everyone relax, we don't need to go down the path of whataboutism, let's just have a laugh

This is a fairly common job title in tech marketing and isn't self-proclaimed.

Shouldn't an evangelist be sincere and loyal?

Loyal enough to wait to be laid off because he serves no purpose at EVGA anymore?

That's not loyal. That's stupid.

People are fanboying it up a little too hard in this thread.... Had he joined AMD I wonder what the general sentiments would have been.

Honestly I was kinda hoping EVGA would make RDNA4 GPU's.

What a self contradictory statement!
What's wrong with joining AMD? Nobody would've been upset if he'd joind or EVGA worked with AMD, even you (look at your 2nd sentence)

EVGA will be a distant memory a few years from now.

Nothing and I would have been just as happy for him. But you do see some comical reactions to him joining Nvidia in this thread lol.
