i think this is exaggerated by a few million, even if 2022 is the peak, my magic 8-ball says most of those same players will revert back to PC gaming by 2023.

By 2023 I expect most consoles will be more PC like in their qualities and the line will be blurred between the two.

in 2023 its still going to be PS5 anf XBOX 2...(Navi 7nm & Zen 2 Archi)
by that time PC hard ware would have advanced greatly..
a console will be merely equal to a GTX/RTX (xx50 series GPU) at that time

I went from console gaming to PC gaming X amount of years ago and i am not going to say how many Xs ago. I know things have changed but back then consoles weren't as stable when it came to longevity of the product, changes and upgrades were incredibly expensive and consoles were limited to games. Whilst NOW consoles have other platforms for use, they are still more restrictive than a PC. I don't know what the future holds but surely the advancement of consoles will be met with the advancement of gaming on PCs. The need for the almighty $ and greater share of the gaming market will maintain the competition between the two. IMO

Sadly with more and more of the population becoming more stupid, by simple easy lifestyle choices of the modern life, Tablets, phones, Amazon etc. PCs and real retail shopping and dealing with real people are going to get more difficult. Consoles make things easy, plug in to the kids TV, HDMI and with a protentialy download only games market it all becomes easier still. I wouldnt use anything but a PC but im old and still a little capable.

Discuss without being offensive. I know the word "stupid" is harsh, but I failed to find a better word which might be understood by some non english first language readers.

Yeah if anything this is what I see - Consoles becoming more like PC's and the spinoff tech (Ray tracing, VR, etc...) will be passed down.

I like how they conveniently ignore the much higher cost of the games themselves on console. No steam for console, and new releases for A grade titles are often well over $100 in Australia. Games are like printer ink for consoles. Also my PC is used for infinitely more than games and the higher cost just reflects how it's not a one trick pony and the freedom I have to upgrade just part of the system as needs arise and not be locked into ancient hardware for 5 years or more. With almost identical hardware there are no good reasons to continue this idiocy of exclusive platform releases. More fool Sony if they want to deny potentially 10 of millions of games sales to PC users.

I think the word is self-reliance.

I'll never forget hearing on the radio a good 10-12 years ago, that people would call our national roadside service to ask for directions. Why? Their car navigation had broken down on holiday. People never bothered to bring a map, let alone try to read it or roadside signs. Note: people with a car full of kids, too.

I know one thing, my daughter won't be doing such a thing. I'll make sure of that. Its going to be a big subject in raising a child these days, self reliance. And not the kind that tells you to get 19850710651 subs to keep all your things in order.
