Nope, shit being spouted, my task is not your task, and I am not responsible for educating you on others use of computers.
You claimed you need more than 8P cores, he asked what for. His question is legit, but your answer is... I won't say it.

With all those ecore you can now open more tabs in google chrome or instead of one video on you tube you can now watch 2 at the same time while playing a game :D
But that already works since Intel releases quad cores, I mean... where is this supposed benefit on MSDT I keep wondering.

If they help ST a little bit by offloading from P cores, sure, but if this starts to work only when P core frequency is down, all we get is perhaps a little power consumption bonus. Sounds like laptop territory to me. I struggle to make sense of the purpose of adding all those E cores above maybe, 4? Well, apart from marketing/benchmarks.

In theory, if you put videos, background OS tasks and what not on E cores, you get better energy efficiency (that's why hybrid was first used on mobile phones).
In practice, I don't think a human being is always able to identify a low-power, low-priority task (e.g. does a transcode job in an out-of-focus window qualify?), so I think software/schedulers will take years before coming up with a somewhat reliable solution.

please educate me ..

I asked him. he did not reply.. someone mentioned gaming .. so whats ur problem ?

if u need more cores intel/amd have a platform called HEDT (high-end desktop) and they have all the cores u wish :) or if u need some more cores for ur mysterious task, there is other segment called server ..

i series is for users, that doesnt need more cores :)

exactly .. new buzzword is "platform longevity" .. normies are just marketing repeaters :D
Who told you that I series is just for people with your perspective IE light use?!.

I'll let my IT department know, not, they would laugh there arses off at such ridiculous ideology.

I can't get down with people who assume we all just game and surf, its a solid fact a shit load of people do work with computers and no gaming or surfing but they're not on gamer's radars, Sad.

@bug it isn't crypto yet my business is my business sooooo.

The logic is the following. Most mainstream apps including games either scale up to 8 cores or to n cores. A 12p core cpu would be slower in the vast majority of applications compared s to an 8+16 configuration. So the question is, why go for 12p instead of 8+16 when the latter is faster?

@bug it isn't crypto yet my business is my business sooooo.
Why bring it up in the first place then?
Because you have add to this thread is basically "I have to do this thing which you don't need to know about and it needs more P-cores. Shame on Intel for not taking care of me, You need to take my words at face value."

lol . it have to be a language barrier or somethink.

i work also with pc. i do 3d moddeling, nc programming, tool sims and stuff .. but all this work wont use more than 8 cores :) if u need more there is hedt and server ..

my point is that there is no need to have more cores for 95% .. if u are the special 5% good for u .. get a hedt :)

missed ur point :D but what ever .. its language barrier for sure

You n me both mate but apparently our perspectives don't mean shit because bug and new guy said so?!.
They say go hedt, why are the E core's better on them?!.

Why do you believe I replied here?!.

Because we're talking about I13900 etc series, not Hedt, which Intel doesn't even have ATM.

Wtaf.

Do you need any of this translating leshy, what into?!.

@bug , no vitreous tone here, I am just discussing, I think Intel's new products are very good/interesting.

But I'm not going to suger coat my opinions.

As I have previously stated, I think they have gone with too many E core's and too few P, it's a opinion.

You can have one too and it doesn't necessarily have to continuously be in Defence mode.

I mean it was as recent as 11th gen that intel had to go backwards on i9 core count (basically an 11700KS).
I know it’s a new node, but do you think it’s magic? They may not even be able to fit 16 P cores alone with their monolithic architecture. And even if they did, who’s to say it would beat AMD’s equivalent?
Intel is going a different route from AMD. If you want exclusively big cores, buy AMD.

is ur ISP blocking google? you can google out, that E cores are more effective ... to put it simply , they have better work/consumption ratio => they are better in MT .. in ST they are weaker, but u want more cores, that means, that ur misterious workload is highly paralelized .. so u dont need high clocks that P cores provide .. u need just more slow cores :D u need all E cores intel can provide you :D got it? or stil in the dark?

Hes talking about a $1k+ threadripper CPU which is not a feasible argument or practical.

Streaming? Video editing? Autocad? Im sure more P cores would be more beneficial in these applications than E cores.

AHH , well trolled.

E core's get trounced in IPC by P Cote's simply.

You think I don't know what Hedt platforms are coming out, I asked the question because I know the answer, none are coming out this year, none.

People complaining about lack of real cores and not enough cores while all people do is play games, watch videos/movies and whack off to porn.. Like you really need real/more cores for that.

are you sure? can you back up this statement? i dont think, that you know what IPC represents :) but maybe i just did not found clock normalized test EvsPcore :) now u have chance to educate me. go ahead and link a test :) OLD MEMBER LOL

are you sure? :D most CAD does not scale with core count .. only exception is rendering (no1 does it on cpu .. there is gpu for rendering...) same with editing .. liveview is accelerated using GPU and i think, that no1 ll render with CPU nowadays.. but im not expert. i do not edit for living :) so maybe in this usecase u need more cores.. but more e cores

are you sure? :D most CAD does not scale with core count .. only exception is rendering (no1 does it on cpu .. there is gpu for rendering...) same with editing .. liveview is accelerated using GPU and i think, that no1 ll render with CPU nowadays.. but im not expert. i do not edit for living :) so maybe in this usecase u need more cores.. but more e cores
