"Last year, we found a bug in Kingston's SSD firmware, which inflicted a significant performance penalty. Now, a software fix is publicly available, and it makes a big difference. "

Am I the only one who things 1 year is too long?
Last year was 6 months ago ;)

Yeah, no, this was released like last July ;)
It may have been reviewed in December, but the bug is definitely almost a year old.

Ok, so if it's a confirmed bug, does it affect a certain controller or type of dram?
I have a Kingston a2000 500GB NVMe drive and it's speeds are as advertised.
Edit: downloaded and installed the Kingston drive manager, and no firmware updates are available, so i'm not sure if it has the same controller or if it shipped as new with the fix already.

While I don't know specifics about this, SSD bugs are usually because of a combination of flash type + controller. Worst case scenario, it's a bug in the controller, affecting all flash types.

thats not mixed. somehow i suspect many ssd vendors test with just cdm or similar, which is why nobody noticed the problem in the first place

If I were you mail you my WD Black SN750 1Tb
Too complicated, I'm in Germany. I still have a few SSDs backlog, but then I'll reach out to WD see if they want to send a sample, or just buy it for testing

Don't test just reading or writing, but reading and writing at the same time. I think Anvil Storage Utilities has a test for that

I found under the Profile tab the option to do default + mix.
