Just last night (here in my neck of the woods), I'd gotten Trepang (because it reminds me of FEAR) and an older game, Wolfenstein The Old Blood (dunno how I'd missed this, Wolfenstein is one of my fav series)....no nonsense FPS is more my jam.

Edit - Oh yeah, over shoulder 3PS, like Gears of War/Dead Space) is also the other shooter POV I like....

I am thinking of picking up The Dig from gog.com. Old lucasarts game.

Edit: I just did. I bought the dig for 2.22$ USD. Gonna relive my 20s.

Believe in your dreams, they will come true.

Diablo II Resurrected for PC. I know that modern Blizzard is ass, but I spent hours and hours with the original's expansion 20 years ago and as it was on sale, I couldn't resist anymore.

Ah, Trepang was that game one Finnish tech tuber uses for testing old GPUs. Forgot that name but I thought that looks hella cool and I got as well some FEAR vibes.

I've been eyeing Flower and ABZÛ type games for the last month or so. None really struck accord in the ways other (mostly console and exclusively Japanese developed) games that were beyond enjoyable positive experiences were.

Batman (The Telltale Series): The Enemy Within... everything you do kicks you in the batsack. There is no positive to dwell upon, anywhere. It does play like a movie which is at least a slower pace.

Horrible explanation thus far of something that was a fringe interest finally being explored. Guess I just wanted something different than anything else. :)

Really great game. I would go as far as to call it a must play classic. Certainly by far much better than the other DA games and I doubt the next one will be anywhere near as good either. It was pretty much the last truly great game from BioWare because......EA happened to them.

Forza Horizon 4 Ultimate on a Steam sale for all the reasons mentioned in the thread on that subject (delisting). I'm not into buying games at the moment, but $6 for that was too good to turn down.

did some research and those PS2 games I got are worth ~400USD. :)

What a jackpot, I paid 50EUR from those.

Does these count? Talked to my uncle and he said that I can keep FEAR (PS3) and GT Sport (PS4) :)

I would also like to add that playing Dragon Age Origins even in 2024 holds up really well, especially if you play it at 27" 1440p, it looks stunning. One of those games that really benefits from the increased native resolution and even unlocked refresh rate. I love the game personally.

on topic: only game I bought in the Steam summer sale is this one, because the original looks stunning on Deck, this one has actual hand paintings, and so I am looking forward to seeing it in Deck OLED, I have to say though, being only a 1 month old game and it has a 75% discount, that is a bit cruel to those who pre-ordered.

Do you by any chance know how I can make the ui text any bigger? At 4k its unreadibly small. There's a mod, and I installed it... but it doesn't seem to do anything. Its quite old - I wonder if thats why. No longer compatible with whatever the current version is.

Running at 1440p is the other workaround which is fine I guess, I do have a 1440p monitor, its just I am so used to downsampling that it doesn't look right unless I do it now.

EDIT: Nevermind.... I verified the integrity of the files after installing some other mods when it wouldn't boot. I thought that would undo the mod, but now it seems to work ???. Well Anyway. Sorry to bother you.

Bummer. No, I don't know of any. I only played it on 1080p and later on 1440p.

Just want to say... do not buy dragon age origins on steam. It crashes nonstop. There's a fix, but it doesn't work with the steam version. I got it refunded and was going to buy it from ea but then I realized I had already bought it on GOG. So Installed from there. And the stop-crashing patch (its called the 4gb patch) does indeed work. But the version is old and doesn't work with the UI patch that I need ( this shouldn't matter if you play at 1080p or 1440p). At this point I am getting pretty frustrated and think I'm going to get it 'other ways.'

Mine ran just fine the last time I installed it, but that was a while ago and I don't remember having to do anything special to get it to run. I'm pretty sure I installed the base game and not the Ultimate Edition (I have both and Steam doesn't list play time for the Ultimate Edition).

Funny how people have different experiences with a game. I have the Ultimate Edition on Steam and never a single crash in many hours of gaming. I have the base game on Origin and it crashed constantly. I ended up with the Origin version because after a couple playthroughs I wanted to use cheat codes to change the game in a few ways and the codes wouldn't work with the Steam Ultimate Edition. Booted the Origin version. Used codes. Saved. Loaded from the Steam version and it worked out.

Okay I think I got it running right. This new version that I got (elsewhere) also complained that the version wasn't right for the mods I wanted but they worked anyway, making me think the GOG version probably would have worked too if I had got that far into testing.

Other problem was, as soon as the game was in the background, every single cpu thread would shoot to 100% (I'm guessing it was no longer putting the fps limit in place, even though its in the nvidia control panel and rtss to stick to 60).

Anyway so I used project lasso to limit it to 4 ecores only and that seems to be working well enough for now. I can't imagine the game gets that demanding. But at first I tried limitting to one pcore and it wouldn't maintain 60, so it must be more mulicore dependent than I would have thought.

EDIT: Weird, crashed again. Some pages say run on only one thread, but I tried that and it affected performance. But that was a pcore. I tried running it only on one ecore and it seems to run fine. Riddle me that one. Something to do with hyperthreading maybe?

EDIT again: Okay maybe not, 1 ecore isn't enough when there's a lot of enemies on screen. 4 will have to do. At least the crashing isn't constant now.. I'll just have to save a lot.
