Welcome to the Wild West, partner! Good Shepherd Entertainment and developer Ice Code Games have released Hard West 2 today on PC via Steam and GOG.com for £23.99, with a 10% launch week discount available until August 11. Battle the living and undead through the lawless American frontier in this supernatural sequel to the hit original turn-based strategy game experienced by over half a million players worldwide.

When first-class con man Gin Carter raids a legendary "ghost train" in search of gold, he discovers it haunted by the Devil himself! Now Gin must lead a posse of extraordinary outlaws to save his soul in a land claimed by darkness. Hard West 2 aggressively ups the ante on the usual tactics gameplay experience, with multiple ways to go on the offensive and change the tide of a fight to your advantage based on your posse's configuration, skills and traits. Each kill will activate your Bravado and refill your Action Points, so you can keep the streak going with the unstoppable force of a steam train.

With careful planning and positioning, a clever player can blow a hole through enemy lines and lay waste to the stragglers before they even have a chance to take their turn. The smallest decisions can have an explosive impact in the blink of an eye, rewarding creative thinking and skillful execution at every opportunity.

Key Features:
  • Lead a Supernatural Posse: Responsibility for your squad of gunslinging outlaws, witches and other mysterious beings lands at your boots. Give your team members bonus skills or enhance existing powers with cards from the Deck of Haunts, then arm them with guns, explosives, trinkets, or just some beans and whiskey to keep them in top shape. Synergize your party's abilities to pull off devastating attacks and control the battlefield. Make the right calls to get more Loyalty Points and use their support to solve predicaments and sub-quests.
  • Conquer the Dark Frontier: Explore the frozen wastelands and lawless frontier towns of the Wild West in a desperate battle against the living and undead. Fight across dynamic levels that'll keep your brain as busy as your trigger. Let your Western imagination run wild with thrilling horseback chases and train heists.
  • Unleash Your Bravado: In Hard West 2, you no longer have to hide behind cover, as each kill will replenish your Action Points! Go on the offensive, and chain together brutal kills to extend your streak as you take down anyone or anything brazen enough to stand in your way!
  • The Good, the Bad & the Undead: Wild West folk tales and the occult collide in a character-driven story featuring the voice talents of Kevin Conroy (Batman: The Animated Series), Darien Sills-Evans (Days Gone) and Adam Gifford (The Colony), co-written by Origins Award winner and New York Times bestseller Matt Forbeck (Deadlands) with a score by BAFTA Award winner Jason Graves (Dead Space).

This looks like a Wild West Supernatural turn based strategy, ala Xcom-EnemyUnknown. Looks interesting!

Any clarification on if this a paid for ad?

The title reads like it - and plenty of games come out without a big deal made via a news post - so whats so special about this one that it made it to the front page on a Friday?

Coincidentally, real tech news is rarely posted on a weekend, so this ad news post will get maximum impressions.

Yeah, I'm just curious if it has an over-world portion (like Shining Force, or Trails series,) or its just another ufo clone with randomly-generated maps / economy?

Luckily, they have a demo, so I'll try it out

Why would it be a paid for ad?
We're just posting some game news, you no like?
I try to give some of the smaller games a little bit of space here.

This is a PC tech web site where many gamers come to do tech research and read news. This announcement is about a PC game. How do you not make that connection?

Why would it be a paid for ad?

I see no problem with it and I say carry on!

I second that :)

Both of the recent news articles that pertain to games have been a copy/paste article ('Retreat to Enen' is the other most recent), much the same as the key sellers that advertise on this site; its a logical question to ask if its a paid for ad when it seems to follow the same standards of product placement/advertisement.

The only thing seemingly missing are the affiliate links to buy your game code...

A free game that deserves some recognition:

Both of the recent game posts were for games that launched this week.
What you linked to didn't launch this week, unless I'm mistaken? It seems to be three years old...

That is indeed true that they launched recently, but, I never suggested making a news post about the old game I linked...

However, it would save the reader £24 and provide an hour or three of free gaming with a similar camera perspective.... I even provided a link with no affiliation... :p

Though, I do accept donations.

Yep... thats one side effect of having those disgustingly overpriced keysellers on the news feed. They dont belong there and it hurts the credibility of TPU.

But I have no issues with the select news items about games. Better to have some of the smaller ones on the feed than the eternal sequel 'AAA' junk ;)

wooo, came down with Covid so I had a week off, finished this game in 4 days, 36h playtime total at hardest difficulty.

Game is quite good, well worth the price tag.
