Valve, creators of best-selling game franchises (such as Half-Life, Portal, Team Fortress, and Counter-Strike) and leading technologies (such as Steam and Source), today announced that Crash Course -- the second downloadable content (DLC) update for its zombie thriller, Left 4 Dead (L4D) -- is available now for Xbox 360 and PC. To celebrate, Left 4 Dead (PC) is available via Steam for 50% off its regular its regular price thru Oct 1.

Entitled "Crash Course," the latest DLC delivers new single-player, multiplayer and co-operative gameplay to both platforms. Targeted for release in September, "Crash Course" bridges the gap between the end of the "No Mercy" campaign and the beginning of "Death Toll" in the original game, expanding the game universe with new locations, new dialogue from the original cast, and an explosive finale.

While containing both Survival maps and a Co-operative Campaign, the primary goal of "Crash" is to deliver a complete Versus mode experience in just 30 minutes, resulting in a streamlined version of the game's existing Versus campaigns. A recharge timer for infected teammates has also been added, and item spawn behavior has changed for more balanced gameplay.

Left 4 Dead is an action horror game from Valve that blends the social entertainment experience of multiplayer games such as Counter-Strike and Team Fortress with the dramatic, narrative experience made popular in single player action game classics such as the Half-Life series of games. Released in November of 2008, L4D has earned over 50 industry awards from outlets around the world and sold over 3 million copies worldwide.

The 50% off its regular price is really making me consider it... you guys think it's worth it?

I really enjoyed the demo when the game was released. Do people still play online?

Does anyone have a direct link, because that site is stupid and hard to browse

Just open Steam and it will show up in the store.

Just played a round of Crash Course. It's really kinda meh for me. It doesn't have a theme like the rest do (airport, farm, etc.). It feels like a bland custom map to me, plus it seems to have an abundance of tanks and witches.

I will go ahead and buy it. Sounds ok and a goo addition to L4D.

it's boring

The map is a crossover from (i think) No Mercy to Deathtoll so yeah a theme is not really there because its an in between campain.
Also its made mostly for Versus, so try it out on versus before you judge ;).

i cant download it til we hit offpeak here (another 4 hours) but i'm excited :)

I've played it, took a little bit to find an Australian server instead of a bloody yank one, lol. Only played campaign, but it was alright. I'd rather play VS though, I just haven't gotten around to it yet lol.

It's kinda fun, but I wish if you stood in front of the cannon, that you'd actually get your shit fucked up when it fired -.-''

I would have rather a full campaign and not some pissy half hour thing; if you're not going to play for the entire hour or so it takes, then don't bloody play or just leave when you have to, jeez.

Though from the look of it, it's going to be hell fun in VS :D

Has Valve started to lie through its teeth? Counter Strike has nothing to do with them, it is a fan made mod based on the Half Life engine.
So Counter Strike franchise is a big fat lie INMHO.

Yeah Valve is going to have to offer more then Just Maps to L4D if it really wants to make its Consumers happy. Either new weapons or element that will truly freshen up the game again. But oh wait, they put all the good stuff in L4D 2. I've played Custom user maps that were twice as fun as the one they released. Why wouldn't possible take them so long to release Crash Course anyways.:shadedshu

Crash Course is fun, but it is definitely the weakest as far as campaign goes. I'll have to give VS a try later tonight, I can definitely see that being a lot of fun. I wish they would have added something other than just a map, like a new weapon, item, or special infected. This seems like it was just an afterthought to make everyone happy after the announcement of L4D2.

Valve is run by greed. That is all. They cared at one point, but that time has passed. :(

They promised more additional maps early on but did not follow through with it.

Still a decent game. I payed $40 for it on 3 computers. Thats $120. :(

No don't get me wrong, I still think they are one of the Better Developers out there and they are greedy but not as Greedy as Fing Blizzard (I despise them). So I forgive them lol. I mean the satisfied me with TF2, HL Series, Portal, CS and L4D. I can forgive them for doing this crap. If they keep pulling this shit up though (which they won't) they will defiantly move down my list.
