Hi Everybody,
I got a new monitor some time ago but I've noticed some strange things happening. The brightness is flickering sometimes in games or when I'm doing nothing. Adjusting the brightness sometimes helps but not always.
I've read that the problem may concern the VRR and the range the monitor operates at 144Hz. I wonder if anyone has that monitor and noticed same thing. (I'm still trying to figure out the optimal settings) Maybe somebody with a high refresh rate monitor has noticed same thing and been wondering if there's a fix for it or any way to mitigate it. It's not like it changes the game experience or anything but it is annoying.

Thanks for sharing.

I haven't noticed any flickering, at any frequency.
There's a LG bios update that pushes the monitor to 160Hz. It takes a dreadfully long time to update (about 30 minutes!).

very slight brightness flicker is normal with freesync/G-Sync Panels.
it mostly happens at low framerates, very slow movement of a basically static image or loading screens.
some are worse than others. i have a 850 (1440p version) and it happens but it is very subtle (don't know if that's even a word :D )

same here. It is very subtle and I basically can't see it. I need to take a closer look and really stare at the screen to notice it. I sometimes see it when I'm in the desktop. It's nothing that changes the games experience I just wanted to know if it's just me or others have that us well.
I started playing Horizon Zero Dawn and I've not noticed any brightness flickering. At least yet.

I see that on my 32" monitors when VRR/freesync is enabled, i found no fix without turning off VRR/freesync

It usually happens when you fall below 50 Fps and then above it - when gsync engages/disengages there is a sudden fast dip in brightness that looks like flicker, so if you're sitting at that magic number (whatever it is for that particular panel) it will flicker. Same for the higher end as well - if you're going past about it will flicker - also in loading screens.

I need to check that one out when I get home but what's the point for switching off the VRR/freeSync? Although I will give it a shot.
I think I have the VRR off at the moment. I need to double check.

I don't drop below 50FPS in gamnes. It mostly happens on desktop. When I switch to 60hz problem is gone.

with a system like mine my FPS doesnt dip very often, so i get a smoother experience without it - i assume its a side effect of freesync on nvidia, but could be that i just have midrange monitors

Do you have a dual monitor setup?

Do you have a dual monitor setup?
yes, but 99% of the time monitor 2 is unplugged (its damaged, i use it when i'm streaming only)

I've tried some stuff with the monitor. I noticed that the flickering happens only with 'game 1' mode set up in the monitor settings. It has a lower brightness and higher contrast ratios. I've manually adjusted the settings (fitting my expectations) and it went away. Could that have been the problem? Brightness and contrast ratios?
