You know not everyone can or wants to game at 1440p ~2160p specially if you can't afford the GPU ($1000+ here) to push high FPS at high res I'd buy one to use with my RX580 and when I get enough money together to grab a better GPU the monitor will still be a beast for 1080p plus it's IPS so it's going to look good (hopefully)

No one said you had to game at higher than 1080p, this is a preference those of that can afford to do, prefer to do. Some people can afford the new Valve Index at 1 grand and have a fantastic time with that, but I can't afford that, doesn't mean they shouldn't be able to enjoy it though. Eventually costs will come down for rest of us in a couple years.

Sad to see they've stayed with the god awful stand from the 27GL850-B, I had to buy an Amazon Basics stand to replace mine. Will be interesting to see if the "1ms" setting actually works on this screen though or if again it's just there so they can say it can do it even if it's unusable.

What is up with these idiotic 1080p >24" displays in 2020?

Different people have different priorities, I.E if you absolutely must have 27" and 240Hz than >1080p isn't really an option with current GPUs, it's the tradeoff needed to tick the other two boxes.

I mean the reason Europe has higher prices is cause it has to pay for universal healthcare, etc (I'm guessing its same for NZ). So do you want to lose your universal healthcare for cheaper graphic card prices? =p

1: New Zealand isn't in Europe, it's ~1100 miles from Australia.
2: The reason Europe has high tech prices has nothing to do with healthcare, it's due to USD exchange rates and import duties. Our retailers basically pay the same price US retailers do, plus the cost of getting it to Europe, plus the taxes involved in bringing it into European countries.

Re-read what I said, you missed out on some reading comprehension.

I am well aware NZ is not in Europe, but they have similar policies as Europe in regards to Democratic Socialism. What do you think import duties are for? Those are a tax that go to pay for certain things. If not universal healthcare, then something else that allows another kind of tax to pay for their universal healthcare. Lots of taxes, lots of safety nets, lots of various sources. Europe also pays higher prices for GPU's under a VAT tax, and that tax goes to help pay for one of the many social programs, such as universal healthcare.
